What counts as an adult in terms of room occupancy?

Hi, just wondered, in terms of the resorts, what classes as an adult occupant? I know it's over 10s for dining, just not clear what age a child classes as an adult in terms of room occupancy?

Four and up. One child three and under will not count in room occupancy. If you had two children three and under, one would count and one would not.

Adult is counted as 18 years old in the room. We had three adults and my dd was 17 and was not counted as adult in the room.

They start counting at 18 - so for example we are going in December with a few rooms of people -- -and one of the families has an 18 year old and another is a single dad so to keep the room occupancy ok AND not have to pay the extra adult we are putting the 18 year old in with his uncle and cousins.

It's not really adult and child capacity, but body capacity. If they say the room holds 4 plus one under three in a crib, then the four can be four adults (over 18) or 1 adult (over 18) and three children (between 3-18). So if your family is two adults and three children between the ages of 3-18, then you would need a room that has a capacity of 5 people.

In your case, you have booked three rooms. If the capacity of each room is four, then you can have up to 12 people total ages 3 or higher (four per room), and three children under the age of 3 in cribs (one crib per room).

The rooms rates are for two adults only (children under age 18 are no extra cost for the room). You do have to pay an additional adult fee for any person over the age of 18 for the third, fourth, or fifth adult in the room (based on room capacity).

one of the rooms was supposed to have two adults and two children in the room, and one of the adults is now not joining us. We notified our TA of this change.
Since then, another adult has decided to join us. Can they therefore stay in the room for no extra cost if we inform the resort when we arrive? We have already paid for the room in full.

No. You are allowed 4 BODIES in the room (plus a child under 3) for capacity limit. You are allowed 2 ADULTS in the room (plus children) at the price you were quoted. Anything past 2 adults will have an extra charge.

You should let them know since everyone gets a room card in their name.

Totally confused here by now - but many of the resorts allow 5 in a room so that does not put the OP over - depends where you are staying.

So IF you are at a hotel that allows the 5 (plus one under three) -- like most of the adults and sections of Port Orleans - I would just show up and make the change when you get there....we have done that before -- if you are not on a package its just as easy.

If you are on a package then it complicates matters a bit adding on at arrival.

As Fla4Fun stated, there are actually 2 different criteria at play here.
1) The maximum Room occupancy and
2) All adults over 2 per room - regardless of total room capacity.
You are charged a nightly fee for all adults over 2 in the room, even when you are within or even under the total room capacity
They are 2 different rules.

How are you getting to Disney? If you are flying and using Magic Express the "replacement" person should be on you reservation.

From what you've posted it looks like 2 people in the room over 18 and 2 people in the room under 18. There will be no extra adult charge for that room. I'm guessing its a room only reservation since package components are priced based on age. The room charge will remain the same as long as there aren't more than 2 people 18 or over in the room.
