What country(s) are your Ancestors from?

They came from:
Hungary
Romania
Croatia
England-possibly the most interesting group, they were members of the nobility but they were Catholic so they were discriminated against....and they were some of the founders of Maryland (the first colonial governor of Maryland and Roger B. Taney who was the Supreme Court Justice at the time of the Dredd Scott decision ( ) were among my relatives in that part of the family.)

My father's parents came over from Italy. We can actually pinpoint the city their ancestors were from because our family name translates... Of(name of city in Italy).

My mother's parents came over from the Ukraine. They were there long enough for my grandfather to fight in the war, and he was in the Black Forest when it was gassed. After making their home in America, he passed away when my mother was just 15.

My dh is 100% Native American ....Mohawk. He is a direct decendent of Chief Joseph.

Am I really the only who's ancestry is Portugese? DH and I both have granparents on our father's side who were born in Portugal and came over to the US when they were young.

My mom was born in Cheite (I know I am spelling this wrong, but it sounds right) Italy.

Dad was born here, but ancestors are from Ireland.

Mom's side - her mother was Lithuanian and her father was - I don't know yet (Strouss was last name so maybe a bit of german?)

Dad's side - Pennsylvania Dutch is the main line with some English and German mixed in. My uncle has gone back 13 generations on my grandmothers side of the family - very very very interesting stuff!!!

I've been searching and trying to start on geneology on my mom's side on her mom's side but have not gotten very far. Someday I will take the time to go search the Lithuanian records in Chicago and also the Coal Miners records to see if I can find anything on my great-grandfather. I do know they changed their last name when they entered the US and that has been the part that has tricked me up. I don't what the name was before it was what it was.
