What counter service to eat at AK?

Flametree BBQ... if you like BBQ you will love this... or for something other then BBQ head over to Africa, Don't remember the name but as you walk in and are facing towards the Safari there is a counter service restaurant on your left (across from the store)... I LOVE THIS PLACE just step in and check out the menu atleast

We like Restaurantasaurus. It's nothing fancy, your basic McD's really, but has a great toppings bar, lots of indoor (ac) seating, and the coolest Happy Meal toys - dino puppets. We have eaten there several times and it's always been a good experience.

I wasn't disappointed by Pizzafari -- it's not the greatest pizza in the world, but it was very filling. Unfortunately, Flametree BBQ never seemed to be open when my DW and I go (usually during value season).

I really enjoyed Pizzafari, being inside in those rooms with the fun pictures. Be aware that at Flame Tree BBQ, if anyone orders the child's hot dogs-they don't have relish! I asked a CM there and she didn't know why, but said they don't carry it!

Here's another vote for Flametree! This is my favorite counter service in all of WDW! It is SOOO GOOOD!!!!!

Another vote for FlameTree BBQ. It's the best BBQ you will find on property. The portions are also very large.

Tuskerhouse, we eat there every time we go. Their chicken is great.

We ate at the Flame Tree BBQ on 1/15 and I was pretty impressed. My 6 yo DD and I split the ribs while my husband had the BBQ Chicken Sandwich. The entrees and the sides (corn on the cob & baked beans) were quite tasty. We used two of the Animal Kingdom lunch vouchers, so on our way out of the park, we stopped to get a strawberry juice bar & a 100 years of magic bar as well as two waters. I'd recommend using the vouchers if they're still available. Whatever you decide to do, enjoy! DU

I like the BBQ'd chicken breast Sandwich at Flame Tree BBQ. I didn;t care for the BBQ'd beef but that is just me. The rest of the gang like it. They have good cole slaw and HUGE orders of French Fries that you have to order seperatly. The eating area of the Flame Tree BBQ is one of the most beautiful places to eat at any Disney Park and comes close to being my favorite anywhere.
Pizzafari had a decent little pizza and a good Chicken Ceasar salad. Check out all the rooms here. They are fun.

Yet another vote for Flametree BBQ!!!!!!!!!!!!

Follow the trail down to the water to enjoy your meal!!

Hands down it's TUSKER HOUSE!!! The chicken is delish! My kids also like the mac and cheese here as it's not the mickey and cheese sauce served everyplace else. They also have a rainbow bread PB&J sandwich that my kids like. I get cranky if I can't eat here on vacation. LOL

We also really liked our meal from Flame Tree in Nov. Plus we ate in a pavilion down by the water, it made you feel miles away from the crowds.

I've also heard great things about Tusker House and I'd like to try them on our upcoming Feb. trip.

My favorite used to be the Beef Stew in a Bread Bowl at TH, now taken off the menu!! Our new favorite is the hot Italian Deli sandwich at Pizzafari (thanks you to someone on this board for the suggestion), followed by the excellent carrot cake at TH.

Flame tree barbeque is my absolute favorite counter service place anywhere! I love the ribs and make sure we eat at Flame tree at least once every trip!!

Our family really enjoyed our meal at Tusker House. I had a delicious salad with chicken and focaccia bread. My husband thought the rotisserie chicken and garlic mashed potatoes were great and my kids loved the mac & cheese. Overall, we thought the food was excellent for counter service food...not your typical burgers & fries.

One thing...the service was a little inefficient, several lines that weren't moving quickly. We lucked out when we saw a counter far to one side that had no one in it!

Hope you enjoy it!

Yup, Flametree. You can get a big order of fries. The CM told me to pay an extra buck or two on my meal and they give you a large fry. Costs less than the side order. Great if you have a small child who just wants a snack.

Oh, and the food is tastey.

I've eaten at Pizzafari and Flame Tree BBQ and have enjoyed both.

I've also grabbed a light snack at the McD and liked the idea of being able to put whatever you like on the burger. Why don't other McD's do this???

Steve

another for the Flame tree!! Last trip was the first time we didn't eat there, and I kinda missed it. We wanted to try someplace new so we went to the tusker house which was also good, but no flame tree...although my fiance and I shared chocolate cake and carrot cake, and they were delicious@!@
Hit the Flametree!!
