...make someone do what they do?? Seriously, what could motivate someone to do what they did to my vehicle?? Sorry, I feel a VENT coming on, but I just had to share....

Now, I know that I am not the BEST teacher in the world, nor the best parent, wife, neighbor, sister, daughter, daughter-in-law, etc. but I consider myself a pretty good person...I don't like to make trouble, and always try to do the 'right thing', and I consider myself a God-fearing spiritual individual (this bit of information is NOT to start any debates about religion, so, please don't 'go there' in your responses ), so again, I ask: Why ME?? . I woke up this morning to my DH yelling to me from downstairs, around 7:20AM this morning. I don't like to compete with him for the bathroom (AND, I like to sleep a little bit longer on Sundays) first thing in the morning, so he usually goes to 7:30 mass, while I go to the 9AM one. Anyhoo, he's yelling at me, "Someone 'keyed' your car!! They keyed your car!"I jumped out of bed and ran to the top of the stairs. "Is it bad?", I asked and he answered, " Yeah, REAL bad!". Apparently, they took a key (or some other sharp object) and scraped alongside the ENTIRE length of my [leased] car, driver's side. But that's not the WORSE part! They then proceeded to scrape the obnoxiously FOUL word '****' across my door! I called the local police, to file a report. I can't believe that the first question out of his mouth was, " Did you recently break-up with an ex-boyfriend?" Uhhhh, I'm 52 and have been happily married for over 26 years...DUH! Soooo, now I have to get an estimate and have the car repainted, since I obviously cannot drive around with the car like that.....honestly, WTH????

...well, that's the thing - I'm trying to figure out if this was done by one of my sudents....ironic thing is, I was blessed with some really great ones this year. In fact, my only complaint was that my SCHEDULE is kinda lousy....report cards just went out on Friday, but I don't know if too many of my students know where I live - actually, this is the first time that no one failed my class! I'm baffled...

That is terrible, I am so sorry.

On the bright side, if your insurance company is anything like mine, you will only have to pay your comprehensive deductable, since another car wasn't involved. Someone did something like this to my dad's car once, and he only paid $50.

It could be as simple as a "mistaken ID" and your car looks like someone elses, or most likely some jerk with way to much time on their hands. Especially since you haven't had any problems with individuals lately.

i agree that perhaps they were going after someone else, and you got caught in the cross fire. (i know that doesn't make it any better, but still. it doesn't sound like anyone has any problems with you.)

when i was in high school a PARENT and his child slashed all four tires of my gov. teacher's car. (i don't think they kid was even in the teacher's class.) people make me sick.

...that happened during a Halloween dance at our school to one of our teachers - 4 slashed tires! Right in the parking lot next to the gym where the dance was taking place!

i hope that your insurance will cover it! do you have another car you can drive until then? (i'm sure you don't wanna drive your car around with that word on it.)

...no, I don't have another car, and YES, I certainly do not want to drive it and park it in our MIDDLE SCHOOL PARKING LOT...

the teacher knew who did it, so i'm sure someone saw it, but i think it was mostly one of those things where people just "minded their own business."

I'm so sorry this happened!
DH and I have had a number of hit and runs or vandalism while our cars were parked. Each time it just feels so unfair and barbaric. And you know what, the people who do it never suffer any consequences - that's the worst part to my mind.
I once had my car "pizza'd." The driver's door was keyed and a piece of pizza and a bunch of slices of pepperoni were stuck to my front windshield. This was in a mall parking lot, so either it was teens idea of fun or they thought my car was someone else's. Some people just have zero consideration for others.

kimmar, I'm so sorry this happened. First thing I thought was that it was a student or an ex-student of yours. It also makes me glad that none of the kids or parents I work with knows where I live.
