Other than ordering an FE off eBay or attempting to make myself (which is destined not to go well:rotfl:), what else could I use for an FE that would be pretty economical? I need one for 2 cabins, with 2-4 pockets each.

Thanks!

On our cruise I saw plain paper 'shopping' bags hanging on the fish as well as a tote bag with Mickey on it.

I have seen some people use a canvas bag (craft stores and they have coupons ie: Michaels, AC Moore) that they decorated or a straw type bag- which you may be able to find on sale. They hang them on the fish. Someone had posted a picture that they used a few small canvas bags ad attached then together w/ ribbon to make "pockets". There is also a thread for FE- may want to try there. You can use whatever you like.

...maybe should have mentioned this is the Christmas cruise, so maybe there are other things that come to mind?

i thought of that but would you just put everyone's name on one stocking? not sure how we could possibly hang more than one from the FE.

you could attach them in a long string? like one below each other?

We are going before Christmas (early December) and I'll be using a stocking as our FE (there are 4 of us). Wasn't planning on doing more than one quite honestly!

The stocking idea sounds pretty good and maybe that is what I will do. Honestly, I don't feel like spending $40 for an FE that they go for on eBay, and I am not talented enough to make my own!

I got some $1.00 stockings on sale last year after christmas. I haven't quite figured out how to put them all together into one fish extender, but that's what I'm planning on doing!

I *think* I know how I'm going to do it, but I haven't had time without the kiddo around to try it out (the cruise is a surprise, and that would be a big hint:rotfl2:).

There are also the Santa hats or some other kinda wintery hat you could turn upside down, whip-stitch together, and turn into something that would work. I've often considered getting some inexpensive small tote bags from Michael's (you could probably get them in red and green) and fabric or hot gluing them together - that would probably work and the canvas bags tend to be stiff enough to hold their shape by themsevles.

I've seen a lot of threads with homemade FEs that were put together with glue, so I'm sure you could do something even if you can't sew! I sewed my first together in a couple of hours, but some of the glued ones look much nicer!

Just over 100 days until we leave (doing WDW for a week before) so it's just about time to start working on everything for the cruise! I can't wait!! :santa:

Hi Amanda! We are sooo excited too! I just came across some stockings on eBay that are really cute and relatively inexpensive. I also bought a couple stockings last year after Christmas, so I might use those though I had something else in mind for them...are you going to tell DD when you are in WDW? I'll bet she'll be so excited! We told DD last night that we were going...last time it was just the three of us, this time it will be extended family and she flipped! I would have loved to have surprised her like we did for the first cruise, but it's too difficult to keep 9 family members from letting the secret out ;) We're so looking forward to this trip and meeting you and all the other folks on our meet thread...my DD will be excited that there are so many girls in her age range (she is also 7) :goodvibes

I bought an inexpensive cloth locker hanger at Target(1.00) in the front of the store. I decorated it with disney stickers and ribbon to hang on the fish.
Quick,fun,and inexpensive.:thumbsup2

That's a good idea! I'll have to check into that, too!

I found some pot holders with a pocket that you slip the pot into at the Dollar Tree ( I got 4 so $4). Then I bought 2 2-packs (I only needed 6 cards per pot holder but got more so I could have a variety of characters for each person) of playing cards there ($2) and glued the cards onto the top of the pot holder to cover up the Halloween design. I think the ribbon is a great idea to tie them together, I'll probably use that! :thumbsup2 They're really cute so far, no sewing and my total cost is $6.

I found our fish extender at ROSS for $3.00 in the christmas section, the tag said christmas card holder... it had 4 pockets and was the perfect width... I will post a pic when I get a chance.
