This is how I got into walking. I started in my late teens. It really helped me release stress and process things that were happening. I find after a day at work or dealing with the current family crisis (It seems like we are being bombarded the last couple of years) that walking helps me release the frustration and energy and I can walk as fast or as slow as I need to to suit my soul.
Today the weather did not cooperate.Gray skies of rain and cold temps again. This spring is just as bad as the past winter. Hoping tomorrow will be much better. It has been a stressful week and I am exhausted and I really need to move.
I had some college friends who insisted we get out walking when the weather wasn't awful. It carried over into a couple of my post grad years, especially after I let my gym membership at the time lapse. I think this is also why music is a must for me. I know seriously competitive people listen to nothing or podcasts/books because music makes for an inconsistent tempo/cadence but music helps boost those therapeutic benefits.
Sorry about your weather. We had torrential rain today but thankfully, it came in hours after my walk. Hopefully, you'll get into a better and more consistent pattern soon.
