What color lights do you put on your tree??

I do white lights only. Our tree is decorated in white, blue, and silver with a few other random ornaments in there. We also do white icicle lights in our windows. No blinking or twinkling here. Someday I want to have a couple of trees so each tree can be themed.

My parents have a really nice pre-lit tree that twinkles. But it's a nice soft twinkling like stars in the sky. Not annoying at all. When I was in high school, my mom did all blue and white lights for a while.

I grew up in a house with a tree that was multi-colored and all sorts of sizes and shapes. It drove me batty, so I've always only had white.

I do however like big multi colored bulbs for outside. Too bad we don't have any trees.

I'm all about multi-color most of the time, but a well done all white display can be very classy and regal. On a tree, however, I don't think anything compares to nice colored lights (unless you are doing a themed tree as the OP mentions).

When was a kids we ALWAYS had colored lights; I hated the thought of all white lights on a tree. A few years ago I threw all my mismatched lights away and bought all white. I hate garland so i have matching Martha Stewart bows in first snow pattern. My tree must match: the bows, the ribbon, treetopper, icicles and the ornament holders. I guess i'm just annal like that!

We do white and amber lights only. I only put ornaments on that have meaning and history. Some are handed down to us and others are ornaments we have purchased on vacations and different places we have been. Needless to say, I have quite a few Disney ornaments.

We have three trees at our house.
1) the Main tree - victorian with white lights. I made the ribbon bows and bright and brushed gold ornaments with gold bead garlanded. An angel sits on top. This Chirstmas will be its 11th season. However, for 5 of those years we didn't put it up because of toddlers in the house so we put a...
2) Mini Santa Tree - This sits on our fireplace mantle far from toddler fingers and still sits there now that the kids are older. It has mini glass Santa and snowman glass ornaments, white lights and a Santa topper
3) Two years ago (third season this Christmas) I found a fiber optice tree at Target and got some red & gold snowflake and ball unbreakable ornaments for the kids to play with. They love having there own touchable tree that changes colors in their playroom.

So to answer your question - I am white light kind of gal. Now outside, we use multi-color at the roof line and the shrubs are a mix of white (tall) and multi (small) lights.

We have white rice lights. They are tiny but bright. The ornaments are ones we have been given each year to mark special occasions or interests. Then I add these pretty white snow flakes that have glitter on them. They sparkle with the white lights. And... here's my mom coming out in me, I add 1 strand of tinsel to a branch here and there to add more sparkle. The garland can't be over done, though and has to be 1 per branch. Drives my husband crazy but he admits it looks much better than the thrown on, fake tree that his mom has (as long as he doesn't have to pit the garland on). Oh and no flashing lights here, either. They drive me crazy as well.

I alternate every other year between color and white lights. We have a lot of disney decorations or ones from other places we visited - but we don't have a specific them.

We also have three christmas trees in our home, we have a traditional tree with mulit-colored light, ornaments handed down from several generations (plus ones we've added over the years like our disney ones) with traditional colored glass balls and tinsel.

We have a smaller 4ft. table top tree we use in the dining room that has white lights and is decorated in red/gold with mostly poinsettias and ribbon.

Then we have another bigger tree that is decorated with a 'sweet treats' theme (it has ornaments shaped like cupcakes, cookies, lollipops, etc.) that tree has multi-colored lights because it's what we had without having to go out and buy something new, but for sure next year I am changing it to white lights.

So we are kinda all over the place as far as christmas tree decorations go, but one thing is for sure, we always have the lights steady (never blinking).

We do multi-colored and our tree had no theme. It's filled will all different kinds of ornaments, homemade, baby's first Christmas, Disney, antique and so on. I love it!!

For the past 2 or 3 years we have done red lights I saw it somewhere and loved how it looked so I copied it, lol. Before that it was always white lights. Out side we have red, white and green lights.

I have a pre lit tree with white lights. My theme for decorating is snowmen. SO everything is in shades of white, ivory, blues, and silvers. When I get my own place I would like to have a candy cane tree too. That one will be white, red and green with candy themed items. under my tree I put my stuffed snowmen and my winter piglets. I love it. It's a nice little winter fun place in the vast and hot desert.

We always had small white lights growing up! Last Christmas was my first year in my own apartment and we carried on the tradition!!

My mom has tons of awesome Hallmark ornaments that we have collected over the years but I don't have a collection yet so we (boyfriend, brother and I) bought some basic bulbs at Target....it wasn't the same though so we had to borrow some of our favorites from mommy!

Guess it's time to start a collection of my own

I must be crazy!! I have white lights outside, white lights on my big tree in the foyer and colored lights on the kids big tree in the den. Each child also has a small tree in thier room, one with white, one with pink & one with red lights.

We tend to do a mixture, on the tree is would be multi colored lights, then I decorate thru the house with mostly white and outside I have mostly white but some multi. Then I have a tree that celebrated my Dutch heritage and the fact that my daughter was born there when hubby was stationed there with the Air Force, so that tree is all white and blue lights with all white and blue decorations except for the wooden shoes and wooden windmills that we decorate the tree with.

My first tree when we got married was all red and white, no other colors not lights or decorations.

I only do white lights on my tree. My bushes get white lights. I only like white lights.

My decorations change every year. I usually pick a theme and work around that. One year it was purple and silver. I used my bowdabra to make a bunch of purple and silver bows and put those on the tree.

Last year it was fairy's. This year it will be teddy bears. The teddy bears are from a trip I did to London and got a Harrod's bear and a bear in the royal guard uniform. So the rest will just be bears that I pick up.

I will be at the World and Orlando in December so hope I can pick up bears there.


I want to be like my friend and do multiple trees. Alas I don't have enough space.
