What color for light/dark transfer paper?

I think I did half of my transfers on the wrong paper. Where do you draw the line as far as which transfer paper to use? What is considered light? What does it come out looking like if you use the light paper on a dark shirt like Kelly green or red?

Help!! I threw away so many transfers yesterday and I don't want to have to re-do my stuff!

If you use light transfer paper on a colored shirt, any white areas of the design will show up the color of the shirt. So, white eyes would become colored.

You can use dark paper on any shirt.
