what colleges/universities let children of employess attend school free

Must be a private school thing mostly, I work at University of Texas and we don't even get a discount which is horrible IMO

I think there are some public schools that do this but University of Michigan is NOT one of them! My dad worked for them for a good 30 years and my brother and I went there...my brother for 2 degrees and we did not get anything off!!! I have always wondered why they did not. A friend went to Eastern Michigan University and either went free or at a discounted rate because her dad was a professor there!

Hofstra on LI, NY. After 4 years, children of employees go free. Before 4 years, it's 25% off a year.

Sure, privates do. And if a faculty member's child chooses to attend another university, a stipend usually is provided. My cousin is a professor at Notre Dame ~ their son was accepted but chose another university. Had he attended ND, he would have done so for free. Since he did not, his parents received an allowance to pay tuition at another school.

There are also some that have full reciprocating with other in-state private schools.

It was available to all employees/faculty.

Arizona State offers staff classes at $25 a credit hour and their dependents get full time tuition at 25% of the in-state cost (~750) per semester. Of course you still have to pay fees, books, etc.

Washington University in St. Louis gives free tuition to employees children at Wash U and a stipend for other schools (I forget if its up to the cost of Wash U tuition or half). Hence why my hubby wants to get a job there after he gets his Masters (so our kids would go free if they chose the college).

Our luck our kids wouldn't choose our alma mater anyways

My neighbor worked at Rutger's book store and her kids would have been able to get free tuition if they went to college.

I know Princeton offers free tuition as an employee perk also

Many private schools offer this benefit. The amount paid will vary from full tuition to a % of that amount. There are also reciprocal agreements with other private schools in many cases. Most I have seen are tuition only, not room and board.

Of course, it's always subject to change in the future as is any benefit and you usually have to work there a certain number of years before you are eligible to receive it.

Univ. of Delaware- Newark, DE -spouses and children get free tution but have to pay for books, Admin. fees and room & board.

My husband used to work at U of I. the rule was your kids could go to any state school free(tuition only)....after you had been employed there 7 years or more!!!

This prevents people to start working when their child gets to college age!

I work at a private University that provides free tuition but the Admissions standards are so high that very few children of staff or faculty are admitted.

I thought it was faculty -- dh says all employees. And we're in MI.

I work at the University of Illinois and our kids don't get 100% tuition. If we work here for 7 years, our kids get 50% tuition as long as we remain employed on campus. Our spouses do not get any tuition discount. I can get a 100% tuition waiver.

I see the list, but I am also aware of a local private university that has put together a task force examining whether or not to keep that benefit in place! So if it were me, I would contact HR for the college/university you are interested in and confirm that this benefit is part of a contract. JMHO, of course...

Absolutely. It can change year to year. !

The University of Maryland offers free tuition to children of faculty/staff members. My friend's husband drove a trash truck for the university and their children are entitled to free tuition.
