What clothing (re: weather) to pack for Dec 13th Eastern

Is the weather better for shorts, capris or pants? We live in New England and its cold here already. Trying to get a head start on packing and putting away summer clothes. Is a sweater or light jacket good for evening? We have a 3 year old and are not sure how to pack for her. Thanks

we have gone on the seven day the 2nd week of Dec. for the past two years,
you may need a sweater while in Florida but that will be it. I remember last year it was about 20 degrees here in MA. but about 65 in Florida and people were complaining how cold Florida was. Once we hit the caribbean the temps were consistantly in the 80's . I was amazed that even at midnight I could sit on the veranda in shorts and a tank top.
