Well I did my first hula lesson tonight and I loved it. The teacher is actually a friend who grew up on Oahu. This is my first ever class just to learn something fun.

How about you? What class have you taken just for the fun of it?

In college, I took Intro to Film. It was a really fun class.

This summer I'm hoping to take guitar lessons and a class on glass bead-making through the local community college. Both seem like they'd be a lot of fun!

Oh, and in a completely different vein, one of the classes I took through Mizzou's Honors College my freshman year was called "Roots of Violence" and that was pretty much a "for fun" class. It was fascinating stuff.

I take ballet and singing lessons for fun :)

In college, I tried to take one "fun" course a semester. I might have been somewhat constrained by gen ed and major requirements, but I still tried to choose something that sounded "fun" - especially when it was to fulfill a (semi-)pointless gen ed requirement. Off the top of my head, I took an Art for Non-Art Majors class (drawing), Zen, a two-semester series on Fantasy and Science Fiction Literature.

As the kids are getting older, I am thinking about taking one or two classes a semester at the local community college.

In college I took a Bartending class for fun. I'm definately not cut out for bartending but I loved spending my "lab hours" working in the bar of a haunted hotel in Ca's gold country.

I also took a few Search and Rescue and backpacking classes while in college, although they were in my major. But fun none the less.

I can't tell because I haven't taken it yet - but it's gonna be a good one! Either that one, or a series of courses toward an Accounting & Bookkeeping certificate...

I've done fun mini-classes like scrapbooking, and stamping. I took a sewing class that I was to make a pair of pajamas in. I learned a lot in the class. The nightgown that I made for the class still needs to be hemmed and the class is long over.

Would like to do more classes, just need to find the time.

I took a class in papermaking a b'jillion years ago. It was a ball!!!

I also took a glass bead making class a couple of years ago. I'm not cut out to that type of craft - but I am really glad I gave it a whirl. I love glass art.

A couple of years ago - I took a "Christmas Cookie" type of workshop. You go to this workshop at a tech college - and you and the other 19 participants baked a total of 20 types of cookies, 20 dozen of each type - and at the end, it was one big cookie exchange.

I'm going to be taking Human Genetics and Pathophysiology classes for fun next winter and spring terms... does that count? I won't need the gen ed credits or anything, I just think it will be fun.

Cake Decorating. I am usually a good student, but I can honestly say I was a failure at cake decorating!

Art History
Art Appreciation
Intro Philosophy
Philosophy of Ethics
Class on starting/running a small business
Several photography classes

Tennis
Golf (with DH)
Golf (with kids)
I still can't hit that darn little ball!:rotfl2:
Yoga

I took a ceramics class during a summer semester in college. It was fun and I made some neat pieces.

I took basket weaving. I was amazed at what I could create in such a short time. It's also very relaxing.
