What chores do your 4 and 6 year old do?

I imagine this has been discussed on here before, but maybe you'll indulge me I'm trying to come up with a chore list for our two oldest boys. What do yours do?

My dd9 chores are cat litter,empty and load dishwasher,cleans the little bathroom,feed cats,and set and clean table for dinner and after. My ds5 cleans his room and will pick up what ever he leaves on the floor. he can also put his clothes away after I fold them.Your children can dust,put laundry away,set table,clear table,empty trash cans,etc. Some people seem to think
children cant do any thing at all just because they are kids,thats why there are a bunch of lazy spoiled kids out there today.

My DD 8 feeds the cats, clears off the table and recently has learned to empty and load the dishwasher.

At 6, she set and cleared the table and had to pick her stuff up.

They are responsible for cleaning up the toy room and their bedrooms, picking up their stuff in the family room, clearing their place at the table, feeding the cats, bringing up their dirty laundry and our new one is if I find any Halloween candy wrappers left lying around I will take a piece of candy from each of them.

Dd4 sets the table, picks up her toys, helps with her little sister, and sweeps the kitchen and family room floors. She has a child size broom and she holds the dust pan when I sweep with the regular broom. She also likes using the swifter wet mop...but she tends to overdo it with the cleaning liquid. She is also expected to clean up after her own spills and to help me put the groceries away (bringing things to me to put in the pantry, etc).

She also waters the plants outside (with dh) and inside when I remember they need it.

Dd 21 months puts her toys in the basket and puts the hot pads on the table at dinner.

My three year old's chores are feeding the dogs and self-care...putting on pJs, brushign her teeth, taking her medicine, etc. She helps clean her room and puts away her own laundry most of the time!!!

Besides keeping his room/playroom clean twice a week my ds6 is responsible for emptying all of the bedroom/bathroom trash cans into the larger one in the kitchen for us to take outside and he sets the table and helps clean it off - but, that's about it...

my DS4 has a dailey chore chart:

he feeds the pets (dogs, cat, gold fish and frog)
he sets the table and helps me clear it
brushes his teeth picks up his toys
empties the dishwasher- he puts silverware away after I take out all the sharp knives and he sets and stack plates etc on the counter so I can out them up in the cabinets

other chores:
empties small waste baskets in the house I give him a kitchen sized garbage bag for him to collect it in.
helps me with laundry (he helps load and sort)
he vaccumes. I have a small real childsized vaccume by Eureka (it is yellow and awesome). I vaccume with the large vaccume in addition to this on other days.
He likes to dust and windex.

a child his age is very capable of chores. My best friends DD8 does not do any chores and she is just a spoiled brat. My friend is so baffled at her childs behavior and why she will not help around the house. Starting them early is the key.

My ds (now 8) keeps his room neat, helps keep the playroom neat, puts his clean laundry away, helps to set the table and unload the dishwasher.

My three children all share the resposibilities of clearing the table and cleaning the kitchen after dinner. (we supervise and it isn't perfect, but oh well) The oldest (DS almost 7) is responsible for taking out the trash and "helping" dad once or twice a week to bring hay from the big barn to the barn where we feed the horses . DS4.5 is responsible for feeding the dog and "helping" dad to feed the horses each evening. DD4.5 is responsible for putting away folded laundry. They are all three responsible for what we call the "evening round up". Toys put away, backpacks by the door, all dirty clothes to the the laundry room etc.

Oh, How exciting! Our trips seem to overlap the 9th and 10th of March! Are you as beside yourself with excitement and planning as I am?

Sure am We're going to be there at the same time as our friends and my parents are joining us for part of the trip as well. I love the planning...so much fun.

Thanks for all of the great ideas. This is what I've come up with:

DS6 -- sweep and mop the kitchen floor (sweep daily and mop as needed)
empty bathroom trashcans as needed (we have 3 bathrooms)
vacuum as needed
read a book to his youngest brother (this is good for both of them as oldest DS needs to work on his reading)
pick up his room
set and clear the table

DS4 -- pick up his room (they actually share a room so they'll take turns or work together)
dust
help big brother as needed with trash, etc.
help set and clear the table (or maybe take turns...not sure yet)
read a book to his younger brother (he's a great reader...reading at a 2nd grade level so he'll enjoy this)

Thanks everybody for the great suggestions. My DS5 has some chores, but you've given me a few more for him to do. By the way, who does the blessing anyone know?
