What Children TV show did you watch

Anyone remember after school specials?

i would kill to get 'the day my kid went punk' on dvd :rotfl:

now here's an obscure one-anyone remember 'uncle crocks block'? (it only ran one season but if you watched it you will never forget it:scared1:).

I never thought New Zoo Revue was all that creepy. It just seemed skewed toward a younger audience than I was at the time it was shown in our area. I would probably go with Pufnstuf or Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. I don’t necessarily think the puppet like costumes make a show creepy, but some of the plots were kind of scary or mean. The Revue was more sweet and less mean. Did anyone else see the Pufnstuf movie? Someone was definitely on drugs when they made that.

Of course, a lot of the late 60’s - early 70’s stuff was a little out there, and that’s what made it fun! I liked Land of the Lost and was totally into the idea of traveling back in time. But when you think of classic shows like The Monkees, they were just as out there as something like Pufnstuf.

Seems like many replied to the thread title, without reading the part above from OP, as a continuation of the question. 😁

I agree, all the Krofft shows were “out there”, and Lidsville was probably the weirdest. Also The Lost Saucer, with Jim Nabors and Ruth Buzzi as space aliens. Not too weird, just really cheesy, LOL.

Another odd show that I loved was “Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp”. All the characters were live chimps with dubbed voices. My brothers and I thought it was hysterical.
Thank you all for enjoying all the Krofft shows, sid and marty were named after my family, not sure why they choose our last name....my story is that my grandfather gave them a free ride on the train and being humble, they choose his last name....there is no history....in my limited research...on how the name was choosen. Made for great fun to sit around Saturday morning to see my last name on TV. wasn't until the mid 80s, when I settled down and started my career in selling collectables that my Krofft collection grew large.....the strange part is that there was an actual witchapoo doll.

as for lancelot link, I have the high school newspaper, christmas of 1972, of my photo in a christmas wish collage that I wanted a Lancelot link coloring book. My sister, along with the 100pc krofft collection still has the coloring book

but in unbais retrospect....bert and ernie where really strange characters.

ABBOTT & COSTELLO SHOW, WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE,

of course WONDEFUL WORLD of DISNEY , ZORRO
Wonderful world of Disney was frightening and abnormal for children?

the only thing frightening about WWof D was that in california it aired opposite of lawernce welk and when grandma visited I threw temper tantrums that I could not watch walt....so in the retrospect...many Sunday night melt downs with children...I want to think that the FBI was on the other major channel.

Already Mentioned: Mister Rogers, Sesame Street, Great Space Coaster, Brady Bunch, Smurfs, Scooby Doo

Not Mentioned: Fat Albert, You Can't Do That on Television, Tom & Jerry, Captain Caveman, Shirt Tales, Davey & Goliath animation on Sunday mornings.

Honorable Mention: didn't watch (was 12 years old) but when I moved to Phoenix I heard kids talk about how they used to love watching The Wallace & Ladmo Show. So, I had to check it out so I was in "the know." :) Definitely for kids, but it was a right of passage for Phoenix kids in mid 1950's through 1980's.

To be fair, some of them were pretty crazy - remember Mr. Boogedy? 🤣

Actually, I loved that one...which may explain a few things.
thank you...I was 5-10, so maybe a lot of that went over my head.....or Mr Boogedy was on when welk was blowing bubbles in our front room...I have nothing but serenity with walt on Sunday nighs

OMG, the one that freaked me out was The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh. I was pretty young, but I just remember a dark story and the creepy scarecrow masks. Frightened the heck out of me; even the theme song was scary. But I had older siblings who loved it.

Mr. Boogedy came out in the mid 80's. There was also Bride of Boogedy. They really aren't that scary, just pretty goofy, but in a bizarre way.

This one is actually quite good. It's really a bit of a "Robin Hood" type story where they are fighting against forced conscription into the British Navy. He does have a pretty freaky mask though, but he's the hero.

Anyone remember Zoobilee Zoo? Late 80's show, but I caught it in reruns on PBS in the early 90's. Tried to post an image but I guess it's locked cuz I'm new to DIS.
