What Changes Would You Like DCL to Make?

I dont want royal. Their ships look like malls with starbucks eeck. I love the disney ships aesthetics, music playing in the halls, rotational dining, themed bars etc. But why cant we add water slides and disney ice skating to that? More physical activities for older kids and adults. The pool decks on disney ships are a bit boring activity wise.

Im all for free ice cream. But soda to me is not much different to cigarettes. Terrible stuff. Dont allow my kids to touch it. Dont think disney should be encouraging it.

Soda is nowhere close to cigarettes. You don't drink it- that's fine. But there is nothing wrong with everyone else drinking it (and I will continue to drink it myself)

Bring back the paper Navigators
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! Some of my favorite DCL memories are the mornings in our cabin. We would order coffee, juice, and food before bed and in the morning sit on the balcony to greet the day. My oldest would be sitting in her bunk with her little glass of juice and her highlighter, planning out all the things she wanted to do. There's just something special about having it on paper.

I got a kick at some of the first comments about trivia.

I just did royal and was so glad they didn't make you trade papers. I just want to have fun with it, I don't need someone grading my paper like I'm in middle school.

I don't know how questions are decided on various cruise lines but a lot of the ones I did on royal were really bad. Did a TV theme song one and 4 of the answers were all the various csi spinoff. Like really, out of the hundreds of shows 4 out of 15 were csi?

Almost all my other answers have already been talked about

It is a well-known fact that a huge percentage of Guests leave their manners and common sense at home when on any Disney vacation
it's sad but true. I also think its almost encouraged behaviour by Disney. They don't enforce any rules and the ships and parks are almost like Pleasure Island in Pinocchio. Sadly of all my travels worldwide the worst behavior I have observed is at a Disney Destination

i forgot to mention but Disney enforcing their own rules is a change I would love. I would cruised with them more.

Soda like cigarettes??? I have never got cancer from second hand soda. Stop telling other people what to do, too much of that in the world these days.
Its a massive reach to claim someone advocating things should not be free is equivalent of telling people what to do. Disney dont give free alcohol to adults. Do you think disney is overstepping their bounds and telling us what to do by not making alcohol free?

The thread is about changes you would like disney to make. i would like disney not to provide free soda just like they dont provide free alcohol. Its fine if you dont agree with my suggested change. But I dont think its right that you ask me not to suggest it. I would prefer my kids not have access to free soda nor feel pressured by other kids to have free soda. And the soda isnt really free. Disney doesnt run at a loss to give cruisers free soda. Cruise Prices are slightly higher as a result of providing free soda. The people who dont use the free soda are paying for free soda to be given to others. I also dont want to have to pay for a benefit I dont take advantage of.

DCL actually does give free alcohol to concierge guests (happy hour 5-10pm every night). Yes, you could make the argument that it's one of the 'perks' of concierge, but you also make that argument about the soda.

If someone doesn't want their kids to do something, then its the parents' job to teach them that. You are right, you're free to express what you'd like to see DCL change, just as others are free to express their opinions about it. If the reason for a suggested change is because you don't want your kids to have access to it, it seems to me there are other ways to accomplish that without affecting the experience for others.

Let's remember to keep this thread on topic. We are not here to compare or judge bad habits, just to list changes you would like to see DCL make. If you don't agree with someone just move on. No need to argue the point. This is now my second warning here.

This is a great thread, I don't want it to get out of hand and need to be closed. Thanks! :goodvibes

A lot of what I would suggest has already been mentioned but here are a few I haven’t read yet:

1. The Cove Cafe rewards card should be electronically managed - no need to get a paper card stamped in this day and age. DCL knows what I’ve ordered and should track that and just automatically give me the 6th drink for free.

2. Put the deck number on the back wall of each elevator lobby area so that it is visible while reaching that deck from the stairs. Too often I have to try to look down the stateroom hallways to get a glimpse of a door number to make sure I know what deck I’m on when I’m walking up or down multiple flights of stairs.

3. I’d love the deck 12 area above the quiet cove to be an adult only area with the padded loungers. Most of the loungers on deck 11 are in the shade. This would give you shade and sun adult only options. This was based on our experience on the Dream - not sure about the configuration on other ships.

4. I found the Navigator app to be pretty unintuitively designed so I think a re-do is in order. My husband and I are both IT professionals and I didn’t figure out how to find the deck plans in the app until the second to last day.

I would like to be able to upload the check in documents and information before check in. So you are ready to go when check in time happens
That or do what royal Caribbean does, if you're on the desktop you can skip to get a port arrival time save it and finish everything else later. It's nice doing that going back to bed then casually uploading everything instead of panicking and rushing

I sort of did something similar with my recent Treasure check in. My friend I am sailing w sent me her a passport and a photo. So I uploaded all that, set onboard account to cash and just copied my travel plans for my friend even though she is flying down and back but not using DCL transport. I’m picking and dropping her off. Got PAT and then went back to bed. I added my cc for the my onboard account the next day. Her photo got rejected so she has to fix that.
