What celebrities have you met?

I have met a few people during my short lifetime:

Nelly: Worked backstage security for him at a concert. Got an autograph

Toby Keith: Worked backstage at his concert. Talked with him and got an autograph

Lou Holtz: The old ND football coach, now coaches at SC

Peter Noone: Worked backstage for him, really didn't know who he was

Paul Pierce: Got an autograph

I thinks that's about it, but I have plenty of years ahead of me to meet more ;)

Elia Kazan (his grandaughter was a close friend of mine in HS)
Paul Newman
Bruce Jenner (went to my HS)
John Kerry
Ted Kennedy
Howard Dean
All the members of the Cars

Dan Quayle (right after Clinton was elected, and he was out of a job). It was on a plane from DC back to Indianapolis. I think he was working for some foundation at the time. I got his autograph.

Don Knotts was also on a flight with me. My seatmate was drunk and really obnoxious to him. Kept yelling "Barney, where's your bullet?" Don Knotts just ignored him.

These are all over the place.

Joe Namath
Susan Lucci
Doug Williams (QB)
Bill Moyers
John Davidson - Riding a bike at NJ Shore

Being in NYC and working in a media building, I've seen a lot of celebrities. But, those I've actually been introduced to or spoken with are:

Bruce Springsteen (we were trying on clothes at the same time!)
Jimmy Carter
Bill Clinton
Robert DeNiro
Francis Ford Coppola
The Rev. Jesse Jackson (he literally knocked me over, helped me
up & kept apologizing)

And, lastly, Gregory Peck - he & his lovely wife were waiting in line with my DH & I to get into a restaurant in LA. He was such a sweetheart. When he heard that we were on our honeymoon, he spoke of how wonderful marriage was and he was so adoring and loving to his wife, a true gentleman...

Reflecting on this made me realize that I've met quite a few famous (and nice people). I'm going from earliest to latest as far as meeting...

Johnny Cash -- Back in the 70s at Newark Airport when we were picking up my dad. Johnny was at the baggage carousel and my mom spoke with him. He is a truly nice man.

Geoffrey Holder (Actor/Dancer): He gave a LONG lecture at our college and wanted people to sit on stage with him while he spoke. You think I'm going to say no to that??? Afterwards I (and some others) escorted him to the College Center lounge so he could watch Dynasty (he was a big fan). An incredibly generous man!

Mary Higgins Clark -- Book signing. It was a LONG time ago and there was no one in the store, but me!

Davy Jones (Monkees) -- After several concerts

Mickey Dolenz (Monkees) -- After a concert and spent a weekend "with him" at a Polo Match (I think I posted this story here before...it's too long to go into). Very nice guy despite some very wierd circumstances that were going on around him.

Doug Sheehan (Actor): After a Polo match

Michael Nesmith (Monkees -- see a pattern here?) -- After a concert at the Long Star Roadhouse in NYC. Tall, very nice guy. He seemed like the type of man you'd want to do the samba with! :)

Victor Spinetti (British Actor), Denny Laine (The Moody Blues & Wings), Laurence Juber (Wings), Hope Juber (Rachel on The Brady Bunch),Steve Holly (Wings), Neil Innes (Bonzo Dog Band/Rutles), Donovan ("Mellow Yellow"), Cynthia Lennon (John Lennon's ex), Klaus Voorman (artist: Revolver, The Beatles Anthology, session bass player), Astrid Kirchherr (photographer/artist; "invented" the Beatle Hair Cut), Ray Coleman (author), Alistair Taylor (author/worked for the Beatles), Walter Shenson (movie producer) and too many others to mention at various Beatle conventions. Most of these people were very nice. Well there was singer Tony Sheridan who was obnoxious and drunk, but that's another story.

Peter Tork (Monkees -- the last of the gang! ;) ) -- After a concert

Jay Mohr (Comedian/Actor): Known him the longest since he grew up in my town and I went to school with his sisters (he was a year ahead of my brother in school). I probably saw one of his first "performances" when he was one of the 3 Kings in our Christmas Pagent one year! :)

Peter Falk (got his autograph)
Magic Johnson (have a picture of him with my oldest DS)
Lyle Alzedo
Bubba Smith (danced with him many moons ago!)
John Carradine
Mayor Dailey (the first one)

Tommy Moe (U.S. gold medalist in skiing)
Steve Young
met both of them in Salt Lake City at the Olympic Announcement Party

Boomer Esiason
met him in a grocery store

Kenny Chesney
met him Sunday after his concert (Yummy, even though he's balding and I usually don't like men who are hair challenged.....I think I was attracted to the personality and the blue eyes.)

a couple of local news people

I don't know how I do it, but I always manage to meet someone important or an actor/actress at the weirdest times. Here's a list:

Nicholas Cage

John Travolta

John Goodman (He used to live right by me!)

Gwen Stefani (lead singer of No Doubt)

Leo DiCaprio
(more, but I can't think of them)

the entire bands of the following:

AFI
Godsmack
NIN (Trent Reznor used to live right down the road from me till I moved out of N.O.)
koRn
Jars of Clay
Taproot
Incubus
Godhead
Coal Chamber
Disturbed
The RAMONES!!!!!!!!
and a lot of little lesser-known bands

I've met Ian Zeiring & Tug McGraw.
DH has met Ian Zeiring, Johnny Depp, LL Cool J, Wolfman Jack, Terry LaBonte, and the younger brother on Growing Pains.

Went to the see the movie "Ronin" one time and got there during the previews. sat down next to this nice guy and we talked abou the previews that were showing.

The film broke halfway through, so we sat there in talking a little more and when they announced they couldn't get the movie going again, they brought up the lights.

I was sitting next to Chuck Norris, a childhood hero of mine. Talk about being floored. He had come to see the movie one night after his filming an episode of "Walker, Texas Ranger".

Made my night.

Having worked at a baseball school and doing many baseball camps for the Astros, all of the famous people I've met are baseball players...

Craig Biggio & Jeff Bagwell - had lunch with them a couple of times.

Chipper Jones - Hit a HR off of me in a charity game. Talk about nervous...I was sooooo glad that I didn't hit him.

Chet Lemon - Worked at Chet Lemon's School of Baseball for 2 years.

Travis Fryman - Met him while working at the baseball school.

Cecil Fielder - ditto...coached his son Prince.

Felipe Lopez - SS in Reds organization. Coached him in HS as a freshman.

There are more, but those are the most famous ones.

Where do you guys meet all these people? I've only met Tino Martinez but I met and fell in love the same day :p

I even ***shh***don't tell...I touched his leg!

Walter Payton (former neighbor)
John and Joan Cusack
McLean Stevenson

John Madden
Diahann Carroll
Donny Osmond
Elvira
Rick Monday and Jack Aker, (both former Cubs)
That's all I can think of right now...

Since I volunteer for Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS, I've met many celebrities. Some of them are really nice, some of them not so much. My personal favorite moments are meeting:

Barry Manilow (Cookie is not the only Barry lover here!)
Sebastian Bach from Skid Row (made me seriously rethink my Barry-fixation. And he called me "Babe"!)
Mel Brooks (backstage at the Tony Awards right after he won for "The Producers". I managed to squeak out "Mazel Tov!" He was positively beaming with happiness).
Brian Boitano (a very, very gracious man)
Emme (the model) (a story in itself, but she was very nice)

Use to work at a concert Stadium. So I have met Huey Lewis and the news, Ozzy, David Lee Roth, Grateful Dead, INXS, and the Cars.

P.S. Huey Lewis was the nicest. Ozzy the craziest, David Lee Roth......well he is a complete $#%^#^$@

Just found some stuff from last year's sci fi con and missed one:)

J.August Richards(Gunn)

I must lead a quiet life. The only celebrity I've met is Mike Singletary, formerly of the Chicago Bears, back when I lived in IL.
Vicariously through my father, I've "met":
Harrison Ford, who went to the same high school as Dad but was one year ahead (they didn't know each other :( )
Cindy Crawford, who was my dad's student when he was teaching in DeKalb, IL.
