What celeb can't you stand?

All those who are running their mouths about how wrong the war is and how horrible Bush is.
Even if they don't agree with the war now is not the time to be spouting off.
Too many airhead people think "stars" know it all

I thought of another...

I also agree about Carrot Top

Melissa and Joan are really annoying. I can't think of anyone else that annoys me as much as the 2 of them. ust the sound of their voices alone gives me the chills.

This thread reminds me of something funny DH said, not too long ago... First there was Hanoi Jane and now we have Baghdad Susan... :)

I know that Martin Sheen does a lot for the homeless and that he follows a lot of catholic teachings about social justice. He is very much Catholic.

....how did Lilo and Stitch lose to some *movie that no-one has never even heard of?*...grrrr......

Spirited Away deserved to win. Lilo and Stitch was good and I wouldn't have been upset if it had won, but Spirited Away was the best of the nominees. Those who voted probably saw all of the films and that is why it won.

Those who voted probably saw all of the films and that is why it won.

Donna - Have you not ever heard the truth behind that comment? One of the biggest pet peeves that nominees have had with the academy's over the years is that something like 60% of the academy members admit to never seeing all the films that are nominated each year...

BTW - I saw Spirited Away - it was indeed good, but nowhere near the likes of *Oh good - my dog found the chainsaw*...

Can I add The entire Osborn family????

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on which was the best animated film. :)

Additionally, because of those complaints you cited the academy has done much over the past years to correct that problem. From the Academy's website:

These days, because of the Academy's successful efforts over the years to eliminate splashy gimmicks and gifts, the race consists principally of attempts by studios, independent distributors and publicists to make sure that each of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 5,607 voting members sees their film.

It means special screenings for Academy members, free admission to commercial runs of a film and the mailing of video cassettes.

Hey no problem Donna - what fun would the DIS be if we all agree, all the time?!? (especially about 2 Disney movies?!?)

lol...sad that they have to *force* the members to see the films huh?

I would have believed that quote - if it wasn't from the Academy's website (naturally they will protect their own) well, that and that I know for a fact that the members were given gift baskets with a ludicrous price tag of somewhere around 20,000... ...I guess that doesn't say much for the Academy on how they *eliminate splashy gimmicks and gifts*...lol...

As to the gifts in the quote, I don't think they mean the gift baskets given to people presenting, etc. They mean film marketers giving gifts to influence votes.

The fact remains that enough voters must have seen Spirited Away that they wanted to vote it best animated film. If they hadn't seen it, they more than likely would have voted for another film.

hummm...perhaps...I just think that there are more politics in the Academy then in Government...:p

...oh can I also add Mariah Carey to the list ?
(contrary to the the Urban Legend, the woman can NOT sing 7 octives - Early in Mariah Carey's career, her publicists let loose with the information that the young singer possessed an astounding seven-octave vocal range, and this "fact" continues to be quoted by the media in pieces about her, even though it's nothing short of ridiculous. A four-octave range is remarkable, and a five-octave range (claimed of legendary Peruvian soprano Yma Sumac for example) is extraordinary. A seven-octave voice would give a singer nearly the range of a piano! Ms. Carey's vocal talents are undeniable (and she can hit some astoundingly high notes), but unless she can sound like Barry White at the low end of her register, her high end must be audible only to dogs. )

Eminem, J-Lo, Britney Spears, N'Sync, the Backstreet Bums, and basically all the other "pop" artists that I can't think of right now.
