What ceiling light do you have in your kids room?

We have the standard non-descript light in the kids rooms. Infact I remember having the same light fixture in my room in the early 80s. We were thinking of replacing them, but didn't see a light at Home Depot that said "bedroom light". I don't want them too Kiddy, but something nice that would stand the test of time. Any ideas?

We put something similar to #100468919 (you can enter this number in the search box on the Home Depot website to see it) in our kids room. Not plain but still basic.

The kids all have ceiling fans with 4 lights. I don't care how "saloon like " it is, I like ceiling fans in the BR.

I like ceiling fans with light kits in the bedrooms also. In my son's room we have Hunter's Baseball Fan:

It doesn't show it in the photo but you can also flip over the fan paddles to look like aluminum bats instead of the wooden ones shown. He was a delighted nine year old when we got it for him and he's still happy with it at 16.

another :thumbsup2 ceiling fans, just the plain old white cheap ones from home depot

I'm laughing a little at this post...when DD was a baby up until she was 6, she was in the smaller bedroom. When she was 6, we moved her into the other bedroom, since it was bigger. She specifically requested a ceiling fan, but she did not want the "eyeball" lights on the fan. So - she now has a ceiling fan iwth a light, except the light is a "squished globe shape"

We use a ceiling fan as well. It's a hampton bay white, with three lights. It comes with two sets of fan blades. primary colors/pastels and the other set is white/wood look. We use the primary blades, and use a blue, green, white CFL bulb.

None of our apts have electrical boxes on the ceiling, so we use a electrical disc to attach it to the ceiling and then use a power cord to run it to an outlet tied to the switch. It's worked well for us, the hard part is finding the stud to hang it from.

This is the fan we got from Lowes for our baby girls room...
I'm another for ceiling fans with lights.
My son and middle daughter have little basic white ones with 3 little lights. My oldest DD has a ceiling fan we spraypainted neon pink and black...with a big bulb...

Interesting... DS wanted a fan in his room but I wasn't sure how practical that would be. I envision him throwing stuff into it. Hmmmm. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

Ceiling fans are great, they help make you feel cooler at night, and give a bit of white noise for sleeping. I've gotten so used to it, that I can't sleep with it off.

They're also very versatile, because you can always buy new blades or light fixture. So choose the color of the main unit that you think can go with anything. My favorite is brushed nickel... but Kari wanted the colored blades and that only came with a white unit.

My son has a ceiling fan as well. He uses the fan almost every night. I agree that it's a great way to keep cool. I have one in my room as well.

When we bought our house 20 years ago, the little son of the previous owners was so proud of his circus light cover!! We told him we would leave it there for as long as we owned the house. When our son was born, it was his light until he moved into what he calls 'the better bedroom.' It's now our den/office and the light cover is still there for Adam who is about 28 years old now and may have his own children. We'll be selling our house next spring and we'll probably take that light cover down for the showings. Maybe I'll try to find Adam and send it to him. :)

My house was built in the 70's when it wasn't in style for builders to put lights in rooms. They did put a light in front of the closet in the bedrooms, but I can't adapt them to a ceiling fan. No lights in the ceiling at all in the family room or living room. Now sure what they were thinking, I had to spent a lot of money on lamps, and still all our bedrooms are dark.

We went to Home Depot and Lowes and looked in the overhead lights section and let the kids each pick out the one they liked (within reasaonable prices). We had the switches for fan and light already on the wall, so just had to put them up with the right connections. DH and his Dad did them.

We recently bought a new home and DD's bedroom had a normal light fixture in ORB. When we began to decorate the room, I asked what light fixture she wanted and pointed out that I'd opt for a ceiling fan since we're in TX. But she is cold natured and more concerned with style, so she went with a 6 light chandelier. She loves it and I have to say it looks great. Lots of sparkle.
