What causes lurkers to finally post?

I'm new too! I lurked for a couple of days and now feel it is ok to start posting. For me it was just so much information to absorb and still working out the different forums. I love this site. Left the computer on last night and dh stayed home with the kids and got hooked. Can't wait to start planning our 2008 visit to WDW.

When I first signed up, I posted for a bit, but I'm really shy - so shy that I had a hard time posting on an anonymous board! I went on my trip and then got involved with another board. Now I'm losing my shyness and I've decided to return...and maybe I'll make some more friends!

Big hello to all my fellow lurkers! I was a lurker for a few months and finally decided to take the plunge when "UtahMama's Top 10 Reasons You're Addicted to the Disboards" thread came into my life. I could relate to so many of the posts and realized it was time for me to join the community (my very first post was #151)!

Hi, I came out of lurkerdom to answe someones question that I just couldn't stand the thought of that person missing some THING about one of the parks, and well, its like chips, can't do just one!!

I have been lurking for about 10 years now. While I was working I didnt post because I didnt want to make it obvious as to what I was doing, and now that I am home with my kids, it is quieter to sit and read than to type at the computer and call attention to myself.

I lurk ALOT!! It is intimidating to post. And I have to get my DIS fix several times a day. Even my husband speaks DIS now. At first he would look at me what's an EMH? or ADR HUH? (insert confused look)Now he knows all the the lingo. I am indsun and i am an addict.

When you're lurking you feel as though everyone else is so witty and the replies are perfect....how can i ever do that!!! I finally started because I was having sooo much trouble getting the search to work, that I had to post just to get an answer to my planning question! I found it is easier to start with some game threads and then maybe some voting threads....and finally I got the nerve to reply to a few!

I'm now working on getting enough posts to learn the "secret handshake"!!

I quit lurking this week! I booked my trip to WDW yesterday!!!!!!!! WOO HOO First time for DH and DS and the last time is was there Epcot was half a golf ball lol. Boy that was a long time ago. I CANT WAIT!!!
Now if i can figure out how to do all the cute little tickers and signature Ill be in buisness!

I don't post much because I haven't been to WDW so have no wisdom to dispense yet . I spend so much time reading all your really good posts that I don't have time to write much. I spend waaaaaay too much time here anyway, but that's another story!

I *try* to wait till I feel I have something intelligent to say. I have posted a couple of times in the wrong forum, that was embarrassing, and it seems by the time I get the hang of where I was supposed to post something, it doesn't seem near as brilliant or interesting as it once was.

I think I am still trying to find my niche here. I love the energy and vitality of the place. So many people who are so knowledgeable and excited about Disney World can be dangerous to the pocketbook though!

I think that its easy to go from lurking to posting because you WILL find something on the boards that you are either interested in or questions that you want answered. you really do feel like youve found a whole lot of really good friends when you start posting

I've also spent a lot more time on here these past few days since I quit lurking.

Basicly, I just don't have that must to post about. I lurk mostly from work, and never know when one of those lousy customers that pays my meager salary will interupt my latest magnum opus. But I think threads like this help draw people out.
... speaking of those peskey customers... gotta go!
