What car? Oh, right.

I just bought ANOTHER suitcase for our October trip. I am a HUGE overpacker, which means under no circumstances should we ever go on any trip with less than the maximum number of bags allowed by the airline. Two checked bags, a carry-on, and a personal item for each person. So as DH is looking at my newest acquisition (a fabulous 22" carry-on marked down from $140 to $35!!) he goes "You know, all that stuff will have to fit in the car."

Car? We were JUST discussing Magical Express. We aren't getting a car! No Town Car, no rental. So DH looks at me and says "The car we are driving from the house to the airport?"

Oh. Right. THAT car. Well. I guess we'll have to figure that out, won't we?

We routinely stand suitcases up between the kids in the backseats. Don't forget that they sometimes fit under the kids' feet. I'm a huge overpacker too! There's just nothing better than feeling like a hero who has exactly what another family member needs at that moment! I guess if we resigned ourselves to doing laundry halfway through the vacation, we wouldn't have to pack so much! I've never done it, though. :flower:

We went to Key West last week before we went to WDW, and there was a sign in the airport that said the regulations were different in Key West. They only allowed ONE checked bag per person because they only fly small jets in and out, and they have weight restrictions and load issues. I was glad we had only four checked bags, because we had to carry one of them on. We had to stuff the contents of one of our "purses" into another bag to make it all fit.

DD16 had brought a small "shoe" suitcase which she ended up having to carry. Why would you pack a pair of yellow pumps with a three inch heel? "Mom, I thought we might go out to dinner." Yes, we did, but we wore tennis shoes and flip-flops!!!

I am an over packer too...well, actually my DH is and just is just in denile, ANYWAYS, i'm packing a suitcase for sheets, pillow cases blankets and cleaning supplies for this trip (DONT ask...it's a new compulsion i aquired :rotfl2: )

I learned about the "shoe suitcase" on another thread. ;)
I think I might give that a try! Then watch that be the bag that gets lost. Hmm. Better to divvy up the shoes across multiple bags, perhaps.

I don't bring bed linens. We all bring an XXL T-shirt to put on the hotel pillows and I bring Clorox wipes and Purell gel in the carry-ons. We all wear pajamas to bed and try not to think about anything icky that might be lurking. I do a visual inspection of all beds before anyone gets in them, but that's as far as it goes.

My biggest packing complulsion is underwear. I pack LOTS of it. I pack it in multiple bags. I pack way more than we could possibly wear, even if we changed it twice every day. Not sure what I think might happen to require tons of underwear. I already bought a little bottle of Tide and some dryer sheets so we will be perfectly capable of doing laundry at the resort. I just like to bring LOTS of stuff. You never know. It might rain or turn nippy at night or who knows? Better to pack the entire contents of my closet just to be sure I have the exact item that I need when I need it!

I have decided when I have some time off in the next couple of weeks I will carry the luggage out to the car and practice making it fit. I will make sure DH is at work for this particular little exercise. That way if all my precious bags WON'T fit in the car I will know ahead of time and not have to scramble at the last minute. Forewarned is forearmed, you know! :flower:
