This is so sad to say, but I have never really been able to enjoy World Showcase and I'm planning to spend as much time as I can there on our upcoming trip.

I want to know what are the "must sees" at World Showcase! I don't want to miss any thing! I have been on the Norway ride and the Mexico ride.

Also, where are the countires I need to stop at for a quick bite to eat? Like...I heard about schoolbread, etc. I want to try that for sure! We will be eating at LeCellier, but we will grab a light breakfast over there and may need something light for dinner as well.

Thank you! Thank you! :cheer2:

Spend some time in Morocco! The theming is so pretty. Mexico is my favorite because of the night sky inside the pyramid, but you've obviously already been in there. I also reccomend the chocolate mousse in France. I don't eat a lot of fancy foods so I don't know how this compares to mousse in France or a fancy French restaurant, but I think it's pretty darn good.

I also had to comment because you're from Charlotte. I live in Union Co, but work for the City of Charlotte. Hi!

If you like Alfredo sauce...you HAVE to eat in Italy at L'Originale Alfredo di Roma. It is delicious, and you get to watch them make pasta! :)

Definitely try schoolbread.. Heres a picture..

Its delicious..

We just got back from WDW on Monday and spent an entire day at Epcot.. We rode everything we wanted to in FutureWorld and then we concentrated on going thru WorldShowcase as I have never really went thru and experienced it before..

I enjoyed the O Canada.. Be warned you have to stand for about 20 minutes.. its a 360 degree show.. Very cool and beautiful sites.. Also we decided to get some candies from some of the countries.. Japan had some yummy ones.. Like Rice Candy.. Pocky and they had some fruit snack things that were really good..

We really enjoyed the Voices of Liberty at the American Pavilion. Wonderful a cappella group.

There are too many things to mention but here's a few:

Canada - love the shops and the show

UK - The shops are great, but also they have characters, Pooh, Piglet, Mary Poppins, Tigger etc and we've never waited very long for them. Apparently fish and chips are good as well, but being a Brit myself I would never try the fish and chips s there are too many new foods to try!

France - My absolute favourite. The patisserie is to die for and the restaurants are great

China - Lovely take-away and great restaurant, also great show in the grounds

Mexico - lovely sedate boat ride

Italy - lovely show by the piazza

American Adventure - Good show, very patriotic, great show to watch when you have weary feet as you can rest

Japan - Great drum playing show and a brilliant shop

I love shopping around the world as the prices are reasonble and you can get little souvenirs. This is a lovely place to be in the evening.

The American Adventure - both the preshow singers in the lobby and the actual show upstairs.

The gardens in Japan

The movie in France, since you don't seem to have seen this yet (and it has SEATS! :))

The various 'street' shows (check schedule for times and locations)

Miniature train in Germany

Kaki gori

And the Rosa Regale & dark chocolate at the wine shop in Italy

I can tell you what was special for us. We saw the candy lady in Japan and my daughter was chosen to get an animal. She chose a penguin. Miyuki is fantastic! We also had a kaki-gori (shaved ice) in Japan. Heavenly!!! My daughter also got to pick a pearl in Japan and we had it set in a neacklace while there. A great thing to remember this trip. We are going back at Christmas and she wants to get one made into a ring. Her pearl was 8 1/4 mm. All the others seemed to be 6-7 mm. So we were very happy.

Myuki, absoultely. When I read your question she is the first thing I thought of. You MUST see this amazing woman working her craft. Along with DeVine at Animal Kingdom, I think she's the best 'street performer' in the World.

Maelstrom attraction at Norway is also a must-do, not so much because it's an astonishing attraction (it isn't), but because it's a but of a 'cult classic'. We can never figure out what the appeal is, but we have to ride it every time, and the queue is usually substantial most of the day (ride later at night).

Then there's Server Amusant in France, Sergio in Italy, the wonderful artists near the bridge between France and the UK, Off Kilter near Canada.....there is SO much to discover in World Showcase. Take it slowly and enjoy! :thumbsup2

Maelstrom in Norway
Movie and a pastry in France
Getting a soft pretzel in Germany is always a favorite for us
Walking through the gardens in the UK and then walking through the shops. (I always call my mom from one of the red phone booths too!)
The singers in American Adventure
The boat ride in Mexico

The shopping in Japan!! Plus...picking out an oyster for a pearl. When I went, I got a lovely 6 3/4 mm white pearl. The little girl who went after me, spent a long time looking before she picked her oyster. The lady behind the counter opened it and it was 8 mm black pearl. They went crazy!! They were jumping up and down and banging on a gong. It was great!

I am not a WS expert, but there are several things we have found to enjoy there.

American Adventure :thumbsup2

Reflections of China (movie) :Pinkbounc

Watching the model train in Germany :bounce:

Exporing the shops of Norway (its a tradition to take our kids' picture with the giant troll) :woohoo:

Here are my/our favorites:

Mexico-we love the taco salad at the outdoor eating area & my dh loves to get a Marquarita (sp)

Norway-depending on DH's mood, he likes to get something yummy to eat there & now preferes that over France since we have eaten in France too many times so we don't go there much anymore

China-the garden area is pretty neat to walk thru

Germany-I get a pretzel each time we walk by. Also I have to go in & buy some German chocolate & I long for a cuckoo clock. And my kids like to watch the train

Italy-dh gets tiramasu & he has had it a few places in WDW & he said Italy's is by far the best. I like to get the chocolate covered strawberries.

AA-I love the show & each time I hear the music in my car I get sad & happy at the same time, I guess more like proud to be an American.

Japan-baki or is it Baci candy (the pretzel like sticks with chocolate over them) & we also get rice candy.

France-we can do with out the pastery but I do like to walk around

UK-we like to browse the shops

Canada-the movie was pretty good but my dh got a little woozy

OK I guess we mainly eat our way around the world. If a show is playing we stop to watch it even with our kids.

Our kids did the masks but next time I am going to have them do the passport too.

The acrobats in China are amazing. My kids were enthralled. We also cuaght the drummers in Japan accidentally and were thrilled that we did. They were wonderful! The AMerican Adventure is beautiful - even my DD14 liked it.

Those are just afew of our favorite shows. We love the marketplace in Mexico and as ontother poster mentioned, the troll in the Norway shop is great. We have very cute pictures of the kids with him with Viking helmets on.

I got the passport for myself and it really helped me spend
more time in each country!

Look in each country at the topiaries!
Check out all the details from the lanterns, to the fountains, etc.

UK: check out all the cool shops, lots of charectors to see,
I chatted with Mary Popppins.

France: Smell all the really good perfume!

Germany: pretzel, check out the shops, hummels, etc.

Japan: great shopping, I did pick a pearl and loved it.
They also have great dishes, lots to choose from and very affordable.

Mexico: loved all the shops, have a drink!

Norway: you have to see the big troll!!

Hello Tarheeler! We're from NC too. About 1 hour from Charlotte in Davie County.

I like to be entertained. World Showcase is the place to be entertained. If you walk around with your entertainment schedule you can see all kinds of comic, musical, acrobatic entertainment. In Japan, you can even see a lady make candy art. You can shop. But mostly be entertained. Really take the time to do it. When I was younger, I felt like I would miss out if I kind of relaxed and watched street entertainment. Now that I'm older I realize that is where a lot of the magic is and some of the best memories that I have of Epcot.

Uncle Albert

I'm so glad you started this thread! We missed so much on our last trip, but this will definitely help with our upcoming trip in Dec. Thank you!

Here's my 2 cents! While we were there this past May, we really enjoyed the UK, Morocco, Mexico, Germany, and Canada. Here's why:

Canada: loved the movie!

Mexico - loved the food at the outdoor restaurant and the flowers were just so beautiful. I love orchids and they were just everywhere.

Germany - because my dh is a freak about trains and loved it. Plus we got to take our pictures with Snow White and Dopey and even got their autographs on Dh's hat.

Morocco - I love exotic stuff and Morocco is definitely exotic. Plus we got autographs and our picture taken with Jasmine and Aladdin. He was simply gorgeous!

UK - There was one gift shop that had pewter dragon figurines (dh collects dragons) so I ran off while he sat and chilled for a bit and I got him a dragon figurine. When I came out there was Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland. They were so sweet (and no lines!) we got our photo taken with them and dh got their autographs too.

Thank you for the reminder about the pearls in Japan - we're definitely doing that when we go back! :)

hugs,

I LOVE World Showcase! My favorite things are:

Canada - LOVE Off Kilter - performing Sunday-Thursday (usually)

UK - the British Invasion, cute shops

France - LOVE the movie, yummy sweets at the Patisserie, and great onion soup and creme brulee at Chefs de France

Morocco - very interesting pavillion, great baklava at Tangierine Cafe

Japan - I don't spend much time here

American Adventure - Voices of Liberty - excellent, sometimes there's entertainment at the America Gardens Theater

Italy - another cool looking pavilion, but I've never eaten there

Germany - very cute shops

China - don't spend much time here either

Norway - schoolbread! Stay for the movie after the boat ride at least once

Mexico - looking forward to trying San Angel Inn for the first time in December

But the BEST thing in World Showcase is IllumiNations! I could watch that every single night. The music is soooo beautiful.
