about my lenses that are sitting here collecting dust?
I have a D70s and had full intentions of becoming a great photographer but it came to a halt when we moved back to the US from the UK.
Now here I sit looking and drooling over these crisp beautiful photos that I wish I could take.I don't think that my photos are HORRIBLE..they aren't...they are good enough for me to hang on my wall..LOL
I have a 18-70mm kit lens that came with it.Then a 50mm 1.8D that I had to have because I thought I would be taking a lot of in your face shots. And lastly my 70-300mm.
What good are all of these doing me if they are sitting here in my bag not being used.
Any reccomendations for tutorials or anything at this point would be great..some photos of things taken with a 50mm besides head shots ... whatever you can send my way would be greatly appreciated :) I want to be prepared when we go back to Disney in August and have a new love for my D70s.

Best advice I can give is to go out and shoot. And shoot some more. You've got some great capabilities in those lenses. Choose one each day. Then, go to a city park, a country lane, a market, a summer festival your own garden--whatever is nearby And just play and have fun. I guarantee, you'll rediscover why you bought those lenses in the first place. Then come on back and show us your captures.

Thanks for the advise.
I have a few books too that I bought and never read...Scott Kelby,A Dummies book and a few others.I just get so confused when they start talking about shutter speed and all the other technical things.Hopefully I'll get to stick around here and learn some things :)

Are you doing any kind of post processing / editing to your shots? If not, you may be surprised just how much a little contrast (levels) adjustment, cropping, etc. can help the appearance of your photos.

These are some old one that I took a few years back.ALL Auto mode...Ashamed to admit it but it is what it is.

Thanks for looking...and I will be posting here and reading here a lot.I see a lot of very helpful people on here.I have been on other forums and people aren't so friendly.I think that is what discourages me.

THANKS for the link to the online course.I will be getting that! I paid for a online photography class and never used it.Maybe I should try.It is through MLK ? Has anyone taken this course?

most cameras aren't that difficult in the semi manual modes like av or tv( hope nikon calls them the same thing) since usually they somehow tell you via a light or something when you don't have the correct exposure. love pea's idea, take it a step farther and challenge yourself to try a new mode where you have to think a little as well. you will never learn how to do it yourself by just letting the camera do all the work, you just have to take that leap into the deep end of the pool;)
