We've never been to Downtown Disney....

How long should we plan to stay there?

What do you think about their Scrapbook Store and Goofy's Candy Co?

Any other useful info? We're going in 53 days!

We love DTD, although we usually just stick to the Marketplace side. Rarely venture through PI or Westside. We usually go on the first night, grab dinner and browse the stores. I like to call it pre-shopping. Get an idea of what souvenirs are there since you can find a lot in a central location rather than a few in this store, a few in that when you're in the parks.

I love Goofy's Candy Company, but it can get a little crowded especially later in the evening. They're VERY reasonable for the personalized treats - caramel apples, cookies, marshmallows, etc. You choose what it's dipped in (milk, white or dark chocolate) and then can choose any combination of toppings (all if you are so inclined and have a stomach of steel, LOL) We just came back and headed on our last night as well for an apple and marshmallows for souvenirs. The apple was only $5.50 and the marshmallow only $2.50 (it's 4 marshmallows on a Mickey shaped straw)

I have some pics of them making the apple and marshmallow, once I resize I'll post.

It's fun if you like shopping. All the good restaurants and places are on the side AWAY from Cirque Du Soleil in WDW. At DLR, I only went through there twice, so I don't exactly know what I'm talking about, lol. But I know a lot about WDW's DTD, so I say that it's definitely more fun over by the RFC; there's a World of Disney store, and a LEGO store, and a Ghirardelli's Chocolate shop which has the MOST WONDERFUL ice cream you'll eat at Disney. On the other side of PI, there are a few interesting shops as well; the shop with all the movie memorabilia is my favorite (I'm a movie nut, lol).

Definitely plan to spend a couple hours there, especially if someone in your group is shopping-obsessed, but do not try to spend an entire day; it's too boring for that. :p

Got my pics of Goofy's Candy Company resized. Hopefully this will give you an idea and you ca see if you and your group would find it "fun" or not. (ignore the "ghosts" in the window - it's the next person in line, LOL!)

goofy's candy co. gives me, my sister, my husband, my sister's husband, and my nephew a sugar high. one 12 inch goofy make your own pixie stick will keep you up all night. (torture actually with a 2 year old nephew at the time)

Thanks for the pics & great info!

I can't wait to go! I have an evening blocked off for DTD - shopping & Cap'n Jacks - I'm not planning on the West-side or PI - just the marketplace areas!

THANKS!

The scrapbook store is so wildly disappointing. They have very little there. And nothing exclusive to that store, contrary to what gets posted around here sometimes. I don't think that whoever runs that place has ever seen a scrapbook and they obviously do not scrap. Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with it.

If you browse the stores in the parks (especially Mousegear at Epcot and the Emorium in the Magic Kingdom), you'll be better off.
