What can you tell me about Atkins? I do not eat salad.Will it work??

I keep reading all these great losses for the Atkins but the times I have glanced at the book I am not sure I could do it. I do NOT like or eat salad. I have tried many times but I gag on it. I have tried to eat one many ways (even fat ways) but I just cant. Would Atkins work for someone like me?? There really are not very many veggies I even like. I have also considered the Hi-Energy center but I hear it is way too expensive.I have done Weight Watchers in the past and after I did great on it back in the 80's but since then I give up after about 20 or so lbs.


I need help. I would love to lose at least 50 lbs. I could really and truly stand to lose up to 100 but I would be satisfied with 50. Help needed please.
 
I think you could do Atkins very successfully! TO start you only have to have 20 carbs a day- that's only 2 cups salad and a cup of veggies. If you don't like salad I think that's ok- just substitute with the veg of choice- but no more then 20 caarbs for the entire day. If you looked on a chart yu'd see taht veggies are pretty good with carbs- a small tomato has 7 or 8 carbs! The rest is protein and fat!! SURE!! Youc ould do this!
 
I think you could do it if you could get through induction. Induction lasts a minimum of 2 weeks. Like Karebear1 said, you will have to eat some of your favorite veggies. You need to eat more meat & eggs for meals. Do you like meat & eggs?

Once you get through induction, you can start adding some carbs in the form of lo carb fruit such as berries.

Let us know what you decide to do. If you think that Atkins isn't for you, there are lots of people on this board that are watching portion control & exercising.

Just know that there is plenty of support here, no matter which diet you choose.

I really thought that I was the only person that didn't like salad!!:D

I have done 2 weeks on Atkins. I also didn't like salad. I've tried it a few times and hated it. Mostly the lettuce, because I love cucumbers and tomatoes! Well, I made myself eat it for Atkins. I'm amazed, but I like it. I just told my DH last night that I can't believe that I'm eating salad and enjoying it!

But even if you can't eat it, there are many other vegetables to try. Check out the acceptable food list in the book or on the web site and see if there are a couple you can enjoy!
 
Thanks for the encouragement. I looked at the Atkins site last night at the veggie list.There are a few that I like that are allowable. I like the starchy veggies the best(no surprise). I do like broccoli and cauliflower and green beans. I do think I might give this a try. I think I will go to the library today to see if they have the book before I spend the money on it.
