When taking a diaper bag to the park, what can you take on the rides, i.e. cameras and such. Can you take a bag on rides? :cheer2: :cheer2: This is my first post. How do add the countdown or pics?
Thanks!

:welcome: to the Dis!

You can take your bag on the rides... In the past, I would usually just wrap a strap around a leg & tuck the bag under my leg to hold it down. Many of the rides aren't really all that "rough" so it's no biggy. You can also leave a bag with your diapering essentials in the stroller - just make sure you don't leave anything of real value when you're on a ride. Carry a smaller bag or fanny pack with your ID, camera, and other valuable items onto the ride with you. It makes it a little bit easier. We haven't had any problems with people messing w/out stuff in the parked stroller in the past five trips. We also always bring our own stroller. I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be with that if I were using a rental as they all look the same and I'd be afraid someone would take off w/my stuff accidentally.

You can add a pic and countdown timer to your signature under "user cp" up at the top of the page.

If you have questions about how that works, the Technical Support forums should be able to answer any and all technical questions:

Hi there,

Welcome to the DIS :thumbsup2

I agree with all4fun, I usually wrap my bag around my leg/knee while riding the rides. I always take anything I would miss along with me including the camera, toys, food I don't want the birds to steal :rotfl: . Since the diaper bags don't carry too much I abandoned them after DD was born while DS was a toddler. I found that a backpack kept both hands free and was easier to carry while I had one or both of my kids in my arms. Plus, a backpack can handle way more stuff & weight. An added benefit was that DH would share time carrying it as long as it didn't look too girly, plain black was always the way to go for me.

Thanks for your responses. Does your backpack fit with you on rides? :cheer2:

Hi again,

Absolutely. You can find different styles, sizes and price ranges everywhere. Places like TJ MAxx & MArshalls carry a pretty good selection. Walmart has a good selection too. Once I found a great DKNY microfiber at Macys when I felt that I wanted a more 'pocketbook style' purse/diaper bag. Even designers like Coach makes one too but I'm not careful enough. Even outlets will probably have a good seletion right now on all the ones that didn't sell during the 'back to school' craze in August & September.

My favorite part of using a backpack is all the outside access pockets they have. I was always able to find easy to get to compartments for my 'need right now' stuff. One was dedicated to wallet contents. One was dedicated to first aid/Motrin/thermometer type stuff. One went to extra Binky's, a small snack, small Dollar store juice box, a 4 pack of crayola & a pad and an emergency toy. The middle was filled with all the essentials neatly stored in Ziplock baggies (diapers & cream) (extra outfits) and the baggies doubled as diaper bags or 'accident' bags for clothes when we were out. Of course, the backpacks were always up to the task when I would ram other stuff in it when we were on vacation.

One more thought. If you can find one with a strong clasp closing the top flap to the bag itself these work GREAT when using shopping carts. I used to be able to snap my backpack over the handle of the carts (& the stroller when the kids were big enough to support it) and save more room for the kids & groceries.

I hope this is a help:)
