What can you get for $25 or $50 these days?

Hi there,

As part of our upcoming trip to Disneyland (DD6’s first trip!) we were thinking of magically changing out the money in her piggy bank into a gift card- we are wondering how far $25 or $50 will get her these days? Last time we went we really didn’t do much shopping- can she get a few things with $25 or would $50 make a huge difference?

Thanks! :flower3:

I have not been in about two years.. but $25 didn't get DD too much. Not including her name in Princess' that was made for her there or BBB she probably spent about $100 in shopping.

I think the biggest thing this will depend on if she wants clothing or accesories.

Some clothing items will use all $25, tees, ears hats. But a pin and a glow toy can fit on the $25. This might give he more concieved value because she is getting two things. But if all she wants is a hoodie, she's going to need the $50 because they are high priced. Nothing is really cheap there, except the wonderfull memories that she is free to take home with her.

Indeed...I know that she is going to be epically surprised as they have been advertising Disney on tv and even radio like mad, and she is very good about it now "I can't wait till we go to Disneyland...someday" :) so she is going to be just shocked as we have told her we have to save for it etc...we did order the Tiana dress, Tiara, and light up wand from the Disney store when it was on sale, so she will receive those when we get down there..I'm not sure when we will get back and did save on the hotel ( Castle Inn :gulp: booked before I found Dis and is booked as a package with our flights so can't change it but going to hope for the best) so thought it might be very special for her to have her own "money" to spend :yay:

We usually end up spending between 30 and 50 for our boys. BUT, we don't have to buy princess accessories or dresses or that kind of thing. They each got smallish plushes last year and then a cool lego from the Lego Store. DH always has a great time spending money on them and he has to be reined in a little bit. :confused3

DS 14 chose a cool Pirates sweatshirt last year and still loves it today. He has 2 different ones now since his older brother gave him his, also.

I have boys too so don't know anything about the prices of girl specific stuff.

Kid t-shirt, at least $18-$20
Ear hats, $14-$20, depending on how fancy they are
Kid wrist watch, $30-$32
Pins start at $7 and go up from there. Lanyard for the pins, $7-$8. Starter pin set, $25-$30.
3" vinylmation figure, $10-$14
Pouches of tiny collectible Disney figures, $6
Disney pens, pencils, and other small stationary items, $4-$15 each.
Many plushes are in the $10-$25 price range.
Park-themed puzzles, decks of cards, board games, $10-$50 each.

I guess the point is that you'll get further with $50 than with $25. If you just want your daughter to get one smaller, fun thing, $25 can do the job, but if you want her to able to "shop" and pick out one nicer or bigger thing or several mementos, then you better go with $50.
