Okie dokey, boys and girls, ever since I've hit the six month mark with my way of eating, I feel like I'm just coaxing along. I'm still losing weight (even lost 2 pounds for the week before I left for Disney) but I've had too many 1/2 pound loss weeks. I also feel my attitude is slipping a bit. I no longer feel like I'm on a diet and that's a good think but I think I'm getting too lax and my weight loss is suffering.

So if you are feeling the same or similar, what are 5 things you can think of that you can do to give your weight loss efforts a good kick in the booty to jumpstart it into full swing again?

Here are my top five:

1) Keep up my exercise routine and drink even more water!
2) Lay off the sugar free treats!
3) Rekindle that "hunger" I had when I first started losing weight!
4) Stop eating after 9:00 pm!
5) Watch my portion sizes!

Anyone else want to share?

Lisa: Those are great ideas for staying on track. My goal is to take advantage of summer to give myself that shot in the arm.

1. Utilize as much fresh produce as possible in our diet instead of pre-processed packaged foods.

2. Take advantage of better weather for outdoors activities.

3. Remember that housework and gardening count as excercise.

4. Invite family and friends for active days or nights out (going for a hike) instead of sedentary things like dinner and a movie.

5. Keep a glass or bottle of water with me all the time to stay hydrated.

1. Try a new activity/exercise

2. Eat more often but smaller meals(Great for metabolism)

3. Quick 10 minute walks in the evening

4. Like previous poster said take advantage of great weather and go for a swim.

5. Add in weight training

Just wanted to say that I love, love, love this thread. I'm really thinking long and hard about my 5 things. After maintaining for 5 weeks I really need to jump start myself so this is just what I need. I'll post my list tomorrow. You guys have given me great ideas. :teeth:

Great thread Lisa,

1.) More water!

2.) Increase intensity of workout, or length of workout.

3.) Run with my daughter.

4.) bye-bye lc ice cream.

5.) Look at others that have gotten past plateaus for inspiration.

We'll see if this works. Weighin is tomorrow.
Beth

Thanks so much everyone for sharing your thoughts. Sometimes I'm afraid to post what I'm thinking because I feel that you guys might think it's silly or stupid. Thanks for not thinking that!

Anyway, I appreciate all the feedback received and it's helping me to stay on track and kick this weight loss thang up a notch! :)

First, ZerasPride, congrats on your success. If a 1/2 loss is a bad week, or even an average week, you're doing just fine.

But its still a good question, what to do when you feel like you're spinning your wheels.

Two main things for me:

1- Change the type of excercise, or up the intensity of what I'm currently doing. Not necessarily more time, but more intense. Sometimes we get used to doing the same thing for the same amount of time, when we are capable of doing more.

2- Take a good look at what I've been eating. Sometimes I let a few bad eating habits creep back in without realizing it.

OK as promised here's my list :teeth: I thought long and hard on this. Thanks Lisa for motivating me to figure out what to DO about this plateu! :)
1. Drink 8 bottles of water a day (128 oz) - no matter what. I make lots of excuses and need to stop. I average 6-7 a day but that 8th is the magic number it seems to make me feel my best. ::yes::
2. Buy one thing in a size 10 as a motivator for me. I'll try it on each week at my official weigh in to remind me, even when the scale doesn't move my body IS changing. ::yes::
3. Weigh ONLY on Sat, Tue, and Thurs - I am becoming a scaleaholic. I weigh myself everytime I'm near the thing (which with all that water is quite a lot ;) ) I am hoping to begin to wean myself so I can stand to do it only once a week. ::yes::
4. Commit myself to my exercise goals - no excuses, no "but I dont' feel like it". It's part of this journey and if I want results I HAVE to do it. ::yes::
5. Learn to rollerblade. :teeth: I have them - might as well learn to use them and I figure an extra cardio workout never hurt anyone right? :teeth: I want to enjoy this beautiful for the SHORT time it lasts here in Wisconsin!

Your lists are great! Mine are
1) Do something different for exercise, and make sure I sweat!
2) Splurge on some REALLY good fruit, if I am in big trouble I make a giant fruit salad-watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, pineapple, apples, grapes in 2 colors, put it in a tight container and have it in the fridge for when I get hungry
3) work on my motivation worksheet that I use to remind me of how far I've come and what my real goals are
4) try on clothes that look good and remember when it was just a dream to fit into that size
5)send the kids to grandma's and spend some private time with the best DH who loved me 100 pounds ago, but appreciates my fitness efforts!
