What can you bring yourself to your DFW that Disney charges you an arm and a leg for?

I spoke with someone two days ago regarding it and in the end my brother and a friend are going to do it for us. They of courses set it up if you get it through them but I got mine else where.

Here's what I'm doing on my own:
Flowers (paid $350 for all my floral when Disney would have charged me that for my bouquet ONLY)
Memorial Candle
Unity Candle
Votives
Menus
Programs
Seating chart
Aisle Runner

...that's it so far. I'm all about saving money!! :thumbsup2

I have a question kind of like the aisle runner situation. I want Hot Pink rose petals down the aisle for our escape wedding at SBP. I can get like 1500 silk ones on Ebay for five bucks. Disney charges 60$. If i bring my own could i give them to one of my guests to just sprinkle on the aisle for me?

I also found these pretty hot Pink confetti stone things (idk what you'd call them) and i thought they'd look pretty scattered through out the cake table. Could I have that same guest scatter them for me or is this a No-No??:confused3

(who ever i "hire" do so the sprinkling and scattering will have to do a trial run... i dont want a pile of rose petals in the middle of the aisle you know :lmao:)

We're just trying to stay on a strict budget with our escape wedding so the more we can do ourselves the better!:thumbsup2

I am pretty sure you can't use silk floral (i.e. rose petals or decor) at SBP or any other outdoor location.

Yes, I think with rose petals you have to use real ones because of cleanup, and any confetti has to be "green" bio-friendly which I believe =can only be supplied by WDW

OH NO!!! I didn't even think of that... good thing i didn't buy any yet! Hmmm.... what else could i bring that could add some decor to the wedding? I was thinking about having the petals thrown by our guests too for the staged exit. :sad2: I did see on Crown_princess's wedding pictures that they had streamers that everyone waved as they exited. Maybe i could make those and do that instead. :confused3 They got some really pretty pictures with the streamers. Or i could just shell out the 60 bucks and have disney provide them.

Idk... any ideas?

Can you purchase real flower petals elsewhere and have someone lay them down at SBP for you? Does Disney allow that?

Hopefully someone will know the answer to your question - all that I know is this.

Many brides have used outside vendors for floral.

At the same time though for Epcot Dessert Parties I know you can't use outside vendors because disney likes to be in control of everything that other guests can see.

I would assume you could use outside vendors for floral at SBP but I don't know if that same Epcot DP rule applies or not.

I don't think that Disney wants control because other guests can see but more like the in park photography aspect. Essentially its a monopoly and they do it because they can.

I think any area outside of the parks is free to use outside vendors.

I'm sure someone who actually got married at SBP can answer for sure but I don't think you are aloud to bring anything from an outside vendor for the most part since it will be seen by others kinda thing so disney has to supply it since its on the property I thought? Check with your planner!!

Yea i dont think i'd want to step on any toes and i think that unless I could use the silk rose petals i wouldn't go with an outside vendor to get them. I mean as much as i'd like to NOT spend 60$ on rose petals I would rather use them over another vendor.

Oh well maybe this will force me to discover new ideas! Gotta think positive right?

I had my reception at Citricos and while I had thought of doing cute table names, I never got a chance and found out that they could provide plain numbers...once the date gets closer, you find you love the simple things in life...so I went with numbered tables :goodvibes

As for menu cards, they told us that they would provide menu cards free of charge, though we could customize them ourselves (for a fee, of course). I asked about what the free menu cards would look like and gave them the go ahead. They were on the Grand Floridian stationary paper with an embossed GF at the top. We had many guests take pictures of their menus with their gift, a chocolate mickey mouse ear place card.

Unless it's changed in the last month all outside locations, including SBP and YCG are now under the Disney vendor policy which means you cannot use an outside vendor for floral etc.

Your planner is the best person to ask - they will even help you save costs where they can. I know ours did an amazing job!

Those menus are beautiful. I'd be very happy with those. I'm looking to have my escape reception at Citricos or Narcoosees.

has anyone had their nuptuals at the wedding gazebo at the yacht club? do they decorate the gazebo at all? i'm interested in having hanging lights? i'm interested in an escape wedding because i wouldn't be able to afford much more. i read that the swan and dolphin might be a better option - more affordable. has anyone had their wedding their. does the swan and dolphin have anything later in the evening? looks at thought disney's latest is 5pm.

thanks!

We were married at the Yacht Club Gazebo and had some decor on the gazebo - but we had to pay for it. We LOVED it and feel it was worth it!

I believe that the Swan has times later than that, I was researching a 4:30 ceremony and Susan at JustMarry didn't give me any indication that I couldn't go later than that.

You can also get married at Fulton's Crab House though you would have to do most of the cooridination work yourself. This is the option that I finally chose and it works incredibly well for my budget!

i love all the lights, so where are you actually getting married? outside on the top? i've never actually been there, just looked at the pic online. will it just be your wedding party there or will they be open for business during the ceramony?
