I'm pretty clear on the alcohol policy, but what else can you bring on board? I know that there will be plenty of food available on the boat, but what if I want to bring some protein bars and quick snacks to keep in my room, or take in my bag on port days. Is that allowed?

It should be okay, other than fresh items (fruit, dairy, etc.)

As noted, as long as they are pre-packaged foods, not fresh, you're good.

From the DCL website:
You may not bring:
  • Homemade, precooked or perishable foods or open food containers.
  • Ice chests or coolers, except as noted below.
  • Electrical appliances such as rice cookers, hot plates, coffee makers, blenders, bottle sterilizers and bottle warmers
We do have a limited number of approved bottle warmers and bottle sterilizers available upon request through Guest Services. In addition, you can request hot water to be delivered to their stateroom at any time fromroom service.

You are welcome to bring:
  • Nonperishable, government-approved snack foods in sealed, original packaging. All items must either be consumed prior to returning to your home port or remain unopened.
  • Breast milk, in carry-on luggage only.
  • Coolers no larger than 12" x 12" x 12" [30.5cm x 30.5cm x 30.5cm], as carry-on luggage only for storing medications, baby food or items related to dietary restrictions only.

While I have your attention, what is there to do in Key West? Our cruise is on December 4 out of Galveston. Key West is the only port that I'm not sure of what to do. I also have three kiddos, 14, 6, &3

They have a nice hop on, hop off trolley tour. Well, there are a couple of different companies, but they are fairly similar. The Butterfly Farm (Garden? Sorry, can't recall) is nice for younger kids. There's also an aquarium and a museum (Pirates) at Mallory Square (we took our kids there years ago).

Depending on how sexually savvy your kids are, you might want to avoid walking down Duval Street, however. The many shops displaying sexual innuendo comments on t shirts I found pretty tasteless.

Hi! We are on the same cruise! We plan on doing to hop on hop off trolley tour. In order to be able to hop on and off, you have to get the tickets yourself. The tour booked through Disney isn't Hop on Hop off. There is a discount if you buy the tickets online ahead of time. The trolley website also lists all the attractions near each stop.

Do you happen to know the trolley website? I guess I could just google key west and go from there.

We took OldTown. Bought the tickets in person. Our plan had been to get off our ship early, do the HOHO, then go back to places like Hemingway's as we wished...but we woke late, ate late, got off the ship late, and basically didn't do that. Did the tour, which was highly enjoyable, then went to the Tervis store, DH went to the CVS for Ricola, and then we went to Haagen Dasz before wandering back to the ship. A nice day.

We love Key West and there's lots to do and see. A lot of great options have been posted and in addition we always have to stop at Kermits for frozen Key Lime pie on a stick (dipped in chocolate!). We have also rented one of the electric vehicles and driven all over the island. Really fun! You will have a great time- Enjoy!
