We are planning to get married at the Sunset Pointe next February. We are having an intimate wedding, this obviously doesn't include a reception. We are to be married at 11.00am, has anybody else married at this time if so what plans did you make for yourselves & your wedding party after the cake cutting? I kinda had my heart set on a character dinner, and maybe something in the evening involving the fireworks, any ideas? We are quite resricted as there are only 10 of us in total.

Could somebody please tell me how to set up one of those cool wedding countdown tickers?

Have heard about Illuminations fireworks cruises for ten people. They sound pretty cool from what other people have written

Well you can not go into any of the theme parks in wedding attire. That is against Disney policy. However you can make PS to go and eat all together.........in fact I beleive that you should be getting meal vouchers for all of you and your guests attending the wedding and you can use them at select restuarnts.......not sure which anymore but I am sure that your wedding corrdinator can help you with that. Also ask your wedding corrdinator for ideas..........they are usually helpful. For ours after the wedding which was at 6 we went and had drinks and snacks, and then we went and had dinner. We had t-shirts and hats made that said "last name" wedding party...with the date of the wedding. So after we ate we changed into those and went to pleasure island as a group for the night. Hope this help you out! Kristi :wave2:

Thanks dstiles, i have read about the cruises and they don't sound that expensive.

Thanks billysarmywife, we are debating at the moment whether to move our wedding later in the day like yourself, because there seems a lot of time to fill leading up to the evening.

We got married @ Sunset Pointe @ 11am last July. I LOVED the time of the day. It wasn't too hot and it was nice and bright!

After the reception and pictures, DH and I changed and spent the day ar EPCOT (my favorite park). We travelled from country to country and had a really nice time. Later that evening we got dressed up and met our guests for a FUN dinner @ O'hana. It was great! We had some nice alone time during the day and a fun family celebration (including a Hawaiian dance) in the evening! :flower:

Any other questions about a Sunset Pointe wedding...let me know. What does your dress look like? What is your future hubby wearing???

We were married later in the day,our reception ended at 9pm
We originally were all going to go to Pleasure Island but we decided last minute to pick up some beverages and go back to our resort....

= one good time!!!
We had the best time!!
Everyone was so relaxed and having so much fun!
We stayed up late and partied until the wee hours of the morning!
Security came by and wished us well/congrats!
Everyone was swimming (yes I changed out of my dress!)
We had other Pop guests join us in the good time!
Because we were not tied to another a event we just had a rocking good time!

We were anti-social, I guess. We relaxed, finished the champagne from the reception, ordered room service and watched "Wishes" from our balcony at the GF. With that said, most of our guests had to fly out right after the reception (my sister was in school and did not want to miss more than 2 days), so we did not have to feel responsible for entertaining anyone.

If our guests had've hung around longer, I think it would have been fun to go out to eat with everyone or go to Pleasure Island.

We are having a Sunset Pointe wedding as well, and are planning on having dinner at Ohana's.

We were married at 3:00pm at the Wilderness Lodge. After the ceremony and cake cutting we spent awhile longer with the photographer taking pictures all over the place. This filled up quite a bit of time for us. Our families followed us and took even more candid type of photos. Then everyone went for dinner together to Artist's Point (intimate wedding, 9 person group). Our PS was for 6:00. We had saved our wedding cake for dessert and they had transferred it to the restaurant for us. It was fun to be able to stay in our wedding attire for dinner, which was the reason we dined at a resort instead of going to Epcot for Illuminations. Afterwards, we were pretty tired (I was sick the entire trip). So our guests went and did their own things and my DH and I went to the pool and sat in the hot tub.

We got married at Sunset Point at 9am and then headed inside for the Character Breakfast at Ohana. I ended up with pics with Mickey and us in our wedding attire! So, if you can work a character meal into your plans it's worth it. We went back at night to Narcossee's and had our "reception" there. We got to watch the fireworks from the porch.

A character meal? What a FANTASTIC idea! I'm still struggling to decide where to have dinner following the ceremony and that sounds great - so do we do 1900 Park fare or Chef Mickeys??

Can't do any others as they're in theme parks and i want to wear my dress!

Anyone been to either of these meals? Your feedback as always is gratefully received :0)

Just a suggestion here......if you do 1900 Park Fair, you can get the famous slipper desserts!! Why didn't I think of that 3 years ago!!

Hi Rosie,

We're getting married at Sunset Pointe at 11am on August 20th. We plan to have Afternnon Tea (well, we are British!!!) at 2.00pm at the GF. We are also planning to have an Illuminations Cruise for our guests in the evening.

Whatever you decide to do, it'll be fantastic.

Andy

Like rosiejo, we're having our post reception family meal at chef mickeys, i know its going to be full of hyperactive kids but i love the idea of a character dinner after the wedding, i'm a big kid! plus my husband to be and his family are from scotland so they'll probably eat their body weight in buffet food!!!

Our wedding is at 12 noon. Our plans are to have afternoon tea, go to Chef Mickeys for dinner then watch the illuminations..the ned to a perfect day (we hope!) :flower:
