What can we do about this point increase/decreasee
I saw the last post and see 93 pages of comments in 6 days mostly upset about this slick move
What can those who are upset do? (those that are not should be aware they may be next)
I to was promised point would never go up
Is this breach of contract?
Can we get together and sign a petition?

I think you have to face reality, DVC won't change the decision but that doesn't mean they shouldn't hear comments so maybe the next time there is a little more thought and planning. Email them DVCMEMBERSATISFACTIONTEAM@DISNEYVACATIONCLUB.COM

The points didn't go up, they were just reallocated. I rather like the new charts, although it doesn't affect me too much. :smokin:

We were promised that the total number of points to occupy every room for a year (at any given resort) would not increase. They didn't. They said that they reserve the right to "re-allocate" points. So if they made a particular day/season more expensive they would need to lower another day/season by the same amount.

I don't have all the numbers handy but think of it this way. Just for sake of arguement, if at SSR it took 10,000 pts to fill every room for an entire year, that 10,000 pts could not go up. They could move pts around making any day or season more or less expensive as long as the 10,000 pts remain the same.

I think what happened is a lot of people took the point change to mean that the time period they like to go will never change (ie. no "week" would increase).

Unfortunately that is not the case. Some periods got cheaper, some got more expensive.

Don't think there is much anyone can do. It is not a breach of contract.

well, They went up for 2010. For 2009, the total to stay in a 2 bedroom Sav view for one week each season was 1,240, to do that same in thing in 2010 it is now 1,241. Multiply that by the number of weeks in a year and it is way more than 1 point difference.

It was my understanding that they could reallocate the points wihtin the year for days and seasons and even points per night but not just add points from nowhere. They made value and standard view cheaper and added points to SV and Con for AKV's. It doesn't seem right to me. I was told that I would be able to stay where I wanted each year wiht some point differences for seasons and some seasons different but not that they would make the view I wanted impossible. Yes, they made it impossible! If I bought my points to be able to go for a week every year during low season, yes dates would change, then I should still be able to go for a week every year, just have to adjust my dates a little each year, not have to borrow from each year ahead to be able to go on vacation. that doesn't make any sense to me !

We were advised by our guide when we bought that the total point value over the course of the year at any one resort would stay the same. So they can raise points for weekday if they lower points for weekends, lower the points for studios if the points rise for 2 bedrooms or lower points for one booking category by raising the points for another booking category. They also can lower the point values for some weeks as long as they raise the points value for other weeks. So they are not doing anything that they are not entitled to do.

You cannot do the Math like that as some weeks will spill into other seasons, and figure out how the weekend days fall per season, you would basically have to figure every single day of the year.

Not for the poster I quoted but to some of the others that are complaining , I do not think they were ever told that the points would be exactky the same or couldn't be adjusted. People hear what they want to hear not necessarily what is stated.

I think it's funny how all the members who have been members for a long time all knew this was possible, and most even expected it sooner or later.

I also do not think DVC did anything wrong, I do not think they need to make any Grand announcement, Every year this time the point chart comes out for the following year - If it were never to change, they would not year after year have to release charts, there could have been just one set in stone.

I think some people are just not happy unless they are complaining.

A reminder that we are limiting all discussion of the 2010 reallocation to this thread. and that petitions/links to petitions or sample/mass emails are not allowed on the DVC Boards.

Thanks.
