Hi, i was talking to NCL about it and they said i can take off the bottled water i will be buying from them, and prepackaged sealed food. However, i just read through the daily letters you get on the ship, and it said as per local law no food or dairy allowed off the ship. I wanted to bring off packaged snacks for the kids, and bottled water to drink. We are visiting St. Thomas, Tortola, and Nassau. I can bring the water right? I think i remember seeing on DCL bottled water to buy on your way off the ship... and it's not food or dairy...
thanks!

Unopened prepackaged, commercially produced food is allowed off the ships, as is bottled water.

Well, this is partially true. Some ports have specific rules and regulations about what types of prepackaged and commercially prepared food can come in to the country. I've always read the port authority web pages to know exactly what can come off. Typically, crackers, cereals, fruit snacks, pretzels are okay. But I have seen restrictions of fruit cups and dried and smoked meats (like beef jerky) as well as string cheese and other individually wrapped cheeses. I have not seen a restriction on water...ever :)

Indeed, uncrustables cannot be taken off the ship in Cozumel. They had dogs sniffing bags for that purpose (not specifically for uncrustables but food :))

i hope we can manage to bring enough foods off to get through the whole beach day. i'm thinking boxed cereals, granola bars, tuna pouches, protein bars, dried fruits, bottled water.

I found YouTube has the Soggy Dollar Bar live, so you can see White Bay beach live!! Google for Cane Bay beach, there is a resort cam. Get excited about the beach you are going to by finding a live web cam!

I would think the bottled water, boxed cereals, and granola/protein bars will be fine (as long as they are in sealed packages when being carried off). As for the tuna pouches and dried fruit, it don't know that I'd try that.

Have you thought, maybe, about purchasing lunch while onshore?

Besides from adding to the vacation cost, i am really reluctant to have the kids eating foods onshore. I don't want any upset tummies!
