What can I do with these points ?

Last May made a ressie at HHI for April 22-27. Now work conflicts have come up and we may have to cancel. The points are from my Sept 2017 use year so would expire August 31st, 2018. What can I do with these points if they are returned to my current use year? Can I bank them or do they need to be used by August 31st? In 25 years have never been in this position before!! Thanks for any and all advice !

As long as they aren't borrowed or banked, you can bank them no later than the end of March and use them with your 2018 points beginning Sept 1, 2018.

Actually you have until the end of April to bank them. However, what is critical is that any cancellation of your trip be done by no later than March 22, 2018, 31 days before your date of arrival, because a cancellation after that date would send all points into holding and require that they be used by August 31, 2018 and they could only be used for reservations made 60 days or less out.

We’re dealing with this issue now. Due to the Nor’Easter this weekend, we opted to leave WDW a day earlier than planned. It was a wise decision - who wants to sit in an airport or endure a miserable flight if they have a choice - but we need to use 41 points by 5/2. We opted to book a trip for a long weekend next month at a resort we’ve never tried - BRV. Luckily the airfare is not bad and our schedules are flexible. Stuff happens, but I’m glad we’re not losing those points.

I think you misunderstand how those points work. They’re valid through the end of your use year, but you can only book 60 days in advance.
