Calling all DVCers...I need ideas. So, I have 100 points at OKW to use in 2010, 4 are banked into next year. My family of 6 and I did WDW 2 months ago ( during the Artic freeze in Orlando!!)

Anyway, we are planning another WDW trip in 2012 with extended family and also plan on purchasing more points late next year or early 2011. So, I will be banking my 2011 points for the 2012 trip.

That leaves 104 points for 2010. Not sure what i can do with those? Kidlets would like to do a beach so I was thinking Vero or HH but I need way more points to do anything. Should I rent points or rent out mine?

Thoughts?

If you need extra points arrange for a transfer of points from another member that can be utilized during your 2010 travel dates so that will give you control of the points to set up the reservation you want ( if the transferred points are not from your Home Resort you'd have to wait until 7 months or less to combine them with your points to make reservation)

Our family loves both HHI and VB although we'd have to give HHI advantage over VB, we love the beach house at HHI and the location of the villas on the intracoastal, lots of restaurants & shopping and it's a shorter drive from here in NY! :)

Good luck on your planning !

I am interested in both but a bit worried about my kids having enough to do. Yes they want a beach but with the range in ages, 15, 11, 9 and 7 at the time of travel, will there be enough to do?

I could have guessed that Scott was from New Jersey. New Jerseyans are just so "friendly".

DH and I just spent Feb vacation at Vero. A few years ago we took 3 teenage boys to HHI for April vacation. I would have to say that there's a lot more to do off the resort at HHI. CMs did a great job with activities appealing to younger kids at both resorts.

If you just have to go on a trip,(like I do ) You can rent from another member for the points you need, or rent yours out for cash for your next trip. There are just so many choices. We are doing HHI in July! Cannot wait!

Looking at the points charts for 2009, an entire week is only 132 pts for a studio, during summer months. You could stay a Sun-Thur for only 13 pts per night. Would a studio suit you? I`d go for that rather than not go anywhere at all. But that`s me!! :rolleyes1

Sounds like they have 6 in their family, so I think they would need at least 2 studios, or a 2 bd.

Leave the kids behind and have a relaxing vacation in one of VB's ocean view Inn rooms. Most folks prefer these to the Studios.

How about a combination of using your points and booking the rest of the days with cash? We are traveling to Vero this summer with a 15, 11, and 9 year old for a week. I think between hanging at the pool, doing the turtle walks, a kayak trip, and a trip to the Manatee Center, there should be plenty to do, or not to do if we prefer. At least thats what I'm counting on. Good Luck!
