What can I do for a special night?

We are going in December with DH's brothers and their families. There will be 11 of us total and all of them (with the exception of us) have never been to Disney. We want to do something special with them one night but cannot think of anything. We want something that will "wow" them and make them never forget the trip. We talked about an illuminations dessert party but some of the kids don't like being that close to fireworks Any ideas?

I suggest you look into the Safari Celebration Grand Gathering experience! We did that as our meet and greet dinner and everyone loved it and was very impressed.

I'm sure there will be loads of peeps dropping by to give other ideas too! :goodvibes

I thought about that but I want something a little different. I want to plan it for the first night and I want it to include dinner, a cake...stuff like that. Something that is more just for our party. Maybe something in a special room somewhere?

I love Illluminations, especially at Christmastime because they do a huge "Peace On Earth" finale. If you've never seen it, it's not to be missed. Although I will say that if you have children that aren't that into fireworks, this is definitely not something you want to take them to. The finale is so huge that your pants literally vibrate with the explosions:eek:! (This is what we love most and why I'm doing a DP for our December wedding)

You could always do a MVMCP. It's more low key, but not as intimate. Hope someone else here can give you more ideas. Good luck!

How about a Wishes Dessert Party? They are done at the Grand Floridian so they aren't too close to the fireworks. I'm not sure on F&B minumums or the size of the areas ( I had an illuminations DP) but that might be an option. It would intimate, you could have food/cake etc. and get a show without upsetting the kids.

There is also the California Grill, which has views of Wishes.

My favorite thing to do at disney is to eat at the california bar and grill on top of the contemporary. If you check to see when wished is happening and plan your meal at that time you can watch the fireworks from ontop of the contemporary. They pipe the music into the reasturant and it is in my opinion the best view of the fireworks you can have. I dont know the ages of the people in your party but when we went we got to there an hour and a half early and requested a magic kingdom side window seat and got to watch the fire works from our table. Obviously if there are kids in the group that will not work out for you guys but you can sit anywhere and go out to the opbservation deck.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Its a little on the expensive side but is well worth it if you ask me.

How about taking them to DTD to see Cirque du Soleil? It may be a little pricey but it is well worth it. I took a family of first time Disney guests there a few years ago and it was their favorite part of their whole trip! They still talk about that first night when they saw Cirque. Good luck! :thumbsup2
