What breakfast cereals (i.g. Frosted Flake, Fruit Loops, etc) are likely available on board?

We are going on a 7-Day Western Cruise in about 2 months with our 2yo. Since he eats hot dogs and Mac & Cheese, I don't think we will have an issue finding him something to eat for lunch and dinner.

But breakfast still usually consists of baby cereal mixed with some baby food. However, we didn't want to bother packing extra food for a 7-day cruise if we can avoid it.

DS has eatten cereals before (such as a playmate that shared some Fruit Loops), so before we take off without any food, I want to at least make sure there is a cereal on board we can expect him to eat for breakfast.

Anyone recall off the top of their heads what was available? Any DISers on board reading this that can check at breakfast tomorrow moring?

I ordered Fruit Loops every moning.

Just came back last weekend. Froot Loops, Rice Krispies, Frosted Flakes, Raisin Bran and one other adult type. Their oatmeal and Cream of Wheat is awsome.

Thanks for the replys.

DW has been trying various tricks to get DS to eat "real" oatmeal, but so far to no avail. So at this point we still buy the baby oatmeal cereal. But DW doesn't mind because the baby cereal is fortified with some iron. DS isn't into meats yet, and won't go near the iron fortified vitamin drops the Dr. recomened after blood work showed he was a little low in the iron catagory.

JMO I personally wouldn't feed my two year old Fruit Loops or any other super sugary cereal. He's eight now and doesn't like those kinds of cereal since I didn't feed it to him when he was younger. Once in a great while he'll ask for Oreo O's, but when I buy him a box he only eats it for a couple days and says he's sick of it.

Have you tried waffles? He might like the Mickey waffles on the ship. They also have bagels, toast, English muffins, pancakes, French toast, muffins, croissants, yogurt, fruit and eggs. When my DS was two he liked to eat scrambled eggs, which have a lot of iron. Of course all the breakfast meats have iron too.

Good luck!

There was also a cheerios-type cereal. I think it was called Cruncheroos. My kids really liked it and we took some with us to snack on when we were in port.

I asked DD what they had--we don't eat sugary cereals at home, so she doensn't choose them when out. Yes, I know that the nutritional value of most cereals isn't great anyway, but....she informs me that they had "Nice Krispies" and "fake Cheerios".

I'd take your question to really mean "what do they have that I can feed my 2 year old." In that case, they have Dannon yogurt, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, Mickey waffles, etc. Also applesauce, plain yogurt (on the buffet by the cereal), cottage cheese. etc. Is there a reason that your 2 year old is eating baby food? Can he start eating grown up food at home in preparation for the trip?

It's not our plan to feed DS sugary cereals, just trying to look for a fall back so that we don't have to bother to bring any food for a 7 day trip (we've already goyto pack the dipers and wipes for 7 days, but east this time around I don't have to worry about formula).

We're still working on getting him to eat additional adult foods, it's just been breakfast time that we haven't made much progress.

He did eat some mild turkey sausage yesterday (he thought it was a hot dog), and it was the first Disney Cruise that he first ate toast (and still does). We'll be trying to get him to eat other things, just wanting to make sure he'll eat something. Like I stated, we know we've got Mac-N-Cheese and Hot Dogs to fall back on...

Though I guess I should ask... they do have Mac-N-Cheese as one of the options for the child's menu at dinner? I hear a new thread calling....

I say bring as little from home as possible. Offer him a good variety of nutritional choices and let him pick and choose what he wants to eat. That shouldn't be too hard on a cruise. He might even surprise you and find some new favorites! My son was a picky eater at that age and I used to obsess about nutrition. But as our pediatrician said: "Don't worry about it so much. He won't starve." He was right. Now I have a kid that loves all kinds of foods - even vegetables. Well, except broccoli.
