What brands and places can you buy jeans for your DD that are NOT low-rise?

I have been blessed over the years to live near a family of girls who are a few years older than my DD and we have been the recepient of their hand-me-downs. We moved away last year and I now have to buy clothes for my DD. It turned cold here this week, so I had to pull out the jeans. She had outgrown all of the jeans we had from last year, so we went shopping last night. I have never had to shop for jeans before...she usually only wants to wear skirts/dresses and what jeans she did wear, were the hand-me downs that I guess were bought before the 'all jeans must be low-rise' craze.

Where do you buy your DD jeans that are not low-rise? Our mall is limited on selection, but I went to Crazy 8's first and nothing was appropriate there in jeans. They were all low-rise. Next to Justice....same issue. I ended up buying her a pair there, but went up a size and pulled in the adjustable sides and figured I would hem the bottoms to make the length right. I then went over to Old Navy and yet again, low-rise jeans. What is up with that?

Any suggestions, please?

I buy my 2 youngest jeans at old navy, gap, justice, and p.s. I don't find they are that low cut, plus all of their shirts are long enough to cover the jean zippers anyway (they do like cropped tops, but over tanks and cami's).

My girls need slims, so I am limited to where I shop, and they do like trendy clothes, having a teenaged sister.

I have 3 girls, (11, 9, &5) we have had luck at JC Penney, Target, Justice and Gymboree (clearance I am not paying more for their jeans than I do for mine! ) maybe try some jeggins too. My 9 yr old os super thin, she is hard to fit too, she is more comfortable in "soft pants" maybe try some of the cute sets of sweat pants and jackets we love those , so soft and comfy and everything is covered.

We are lucky to have a Vanity Fair Outlet close by that sells Lee jeans @ 5.87 for girls jeans and 7.87 for boys jeans. They are all adjustable waist which really helps out. Old Navy jeans wear well also and their sales work just as well online.

Since that is what is "in" now I don't think you are going to find many, especially at any mall stores. You may find some in a cheaper more utilitarian type. You could try Boys they may be a bit higher but they are lower also since they don't want jeans to their waist either.

Only place that fits my daughter well is Children's Place. She doesn't like low rise (thankfully, nor do I) and she is a peanut so the Children's place jeans fit her just right for some reason - good proportion for her.

You are smart to be thinking about this! I think a lot of people forget that kids spend much of their day sitting on floor leaning over things. There is a lot of CRACK in schools!

Target brand (Circo) has some styles with a higher rise. My DD is long-waisted and slender, and those are what fit her best now. Justice super hip and Children's Place bootcut fit her in size 8, but not size 9.

I don't understand the allure of low rise jeans. The higher-cut stuff doesn't always cover low-cut hipster underwear - if low rise fit her, she'd have to go commando to keep her panties from showing above the waistband.

JcPenny- Levi brand; Walmart and Target brands as well. I had a terrible time with jean shorts this year. They are all "short,shorts" Crazy! Good Luck!

My DS has to have slim, and so we don't buy him carpenter-style jeans or pants because they look HUGE on him...we just buy him straight leg, slim jeans. *shrugs* Just a thought.

The cut of boys jeans (not talking about design colors) varies from girls jeans or at least to me when I hold them up to my kids it does.

OP, We shop at Childrens Place for the kids jeans. DS is tall and slim and DD is petite and slim. Adjustable waist is a MUST (which sucks because I bought some EEUC resale items from GAP and they're too big in the waist) for us.

As far as jean shorts for the future, Old Navy carries "board shorts" and Childrens Place calls them "Skimmer shorts". For religious reasons, DD can't (nor will I allow her to) wear super short shorts. I stocked up EARLY this past year because once other parents realize how short the shorts are, they go back and grab the remaining stock of the longer shorts. lol

For DD, Justice for tops. They don't look like a tent on her. I have yet to find the perfect top style for DS that doesn't drape him due to his height and scrawniness

Lands End! Their girls jeans are the best. Very age appropriate and made to last. I love all of their girls clothes, they are just great and LE is a wonderful company.

I agree. I have boys but all of their clothes are not trying to be trendy. I love that they're all returnable anytime. It's all good quality. Same goes for LLBean.

i do a lot of thrift store shopping and have good luck finding appropriate stuff there. i pay no attention to the brands, but when i was looking for shorts this year i found lots that were a good length...maybe donated when the low rise, short short craze started! lol

i usually grab everything in her size that looks like i would be good and she tried them all on so i can make sure they fit.

my dd has the opposite problem, she used to be long legged and slim, now she is long legged with some curves and a booty. puberty...ugh. but i figure (hope?) that im instilling some modesty in her now so i wont have to fight with her later!

My options are limited where I live to just a hand full of stores, but I plan on shopping at the stores you listed when I make it to the outlets in a few weeks. My DD would like the embellished pants, but I went through my DS's old clothes and found a few pairs of pants that fit her...no frills, but they cover what I think should be covered without constantly having to hike up her pants or pull the back of her shirt down over her bottom.

If the concern is "crack", I have another suggestion. It happens a lot here too, especially since the jeans that fit in legs and hips are too big in waist or if they fit everywhere they're too low once the kids sit or bend or lean...

Trendy Tops. Basically it's a tank top without the straps that you wear over your jeans and under your shirt. But you could easily make your own - just get some tank tops from the thrift store or ones that have become too short, cut off about the top 1/3-1/2 and hem where you cut.

For most of the stores though you'll have to try on different styles. Old Navy Skinny jeans are higher waisted than the super skinny jeans, other styles vary on rise. Same with Gap and Childrens Place. Most jeans from P.S. Aero are going to be really low - their teen/adult jeans are ridiculously low in the front and slightly higher in back. Once you've found a brand and style that fit well keep an eye out for sales and buy a few sizes - and look at the second hand stores for those.

The non-existent waists in the jeans is our problem. Adjusty thingies for big kids? Really? Whatever happened to putting a waist in the jeans?

Anyway. Target, Walmart and Old Navy will carry 1 style of regular jeans. I believe it is the bootcut style.

Children's Place used to always carry normal jeans, but it seems they are going more towards sparkly and super skinny jeans. I can't remember the last time I've seen normal jeans at JCP. They are always super skinny and low-rise. We never buy jeans from Justice as they have no waist or adjusties.

Gap regular style jeans fit well, but their jeans shrink. If they style is perfect fit at Gap, it will be too tight after a few washes. Buyer beware.

We are moving back up North this winter. I will give the LandEnd's jeans a try. Thanks for the tip!
