DH and I are kind of torn between two worlds. We either enter into the Sony Vio world or "dude your getting a Dell world"

We currently have a Compaq and want a new computer.

I want to know what you have and how do you like?

Right now I have a Medion and I love it. We got it at a computer show. I had an HP and was always having problems with it. My mother also has problems with her HP. My son's E-Machine works better. Everyone raves about Dells, but I've never had one.

We have an HP desktop that isn't worth the Walmart desk it's sitting on. Somedays, it functions well enough to get work done on it, but often not.

We recently purchased a Dell laptop and LOVE IT so far. I have numerous friends and family with Dells (laptop and desktop) who rave about it... We don't regret our purchase yet.

Once its paid off, we'll buy a Dell desktop, too. They are pretty affordable.

1. HP Pentium II - 400 MHz (DS's)
2. Dell Optiplex - P4 - 1.4 GHz (DS's)
3. Custom built - P4 - 2.6 GHz (DH)
4. Compaq Presario laptop - Celeron - 2.2 GHz (Mine)

at work:

IBM Netvista - P4 - 1.4 GHz

Which one do I like the best. I like my laptop, but I'm most proud of DH's cause I assembled it, picked the parts and the components I wanted and didn't have to get the stuff I didn't want.

Dude, I've got a Dell (I couldn't resist).

I have a laptop and my family has a desktop. The desktop has problems, but thats more because my brother and sister have no idea what they're doing and download a bunch of random things. I love my laptop, and I love wireless networking! :)

actually 2 of them..and we love them..almost 2 years old and ..knock on wood..not a problem with either of them..good luck with whatever brand you choose...but..I wouldn't buy one of those 'walmart specials'..have heard nothing but nightmare stories about them!

1. Dell Optiplex GX110 - P3-800mhz, 512 mg ram
2. Custom built - AMD Athlon 2 ghz, 512 mg ram
3. Compaq Presario 905 laptop - AMD Athlon 1ghz, 256 mg ram
3 1/2. Dell Axim Handheld - 300mhz, 64 mg ram

2 Dell desktops, 1 Dell laptop, just retired an older Dell desktop. All are/were great.

Gateway, and I have been less than pleased. Our first one ended up having 5 (yes, I did say 5!!!!!) hard drives replaced before they finally replaced the whole computer, and 6 months after they replaced the computer, what happened???? THE HARD DRIVE WENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Built mine, it's a well oiled machine. Some guys like a finely tuned car or a well kept lawn mower. Me, I have my computer. :teeth:

I have a couple of old IBMs that did me great for years. I also have a Sony Vaio laptop as well as three self built machines in the house. For a desktop, I would only do a self built. Laptops are totally different ballgames.

I built my own...

There's some info on it at www.jonoonline.com *edit* just wanted to add to any visitors there the site is a horrid mess right now!

I also have a little computer I'm toying with that is a P2 600Mhz built in a cardboard box... LOL

It is a rare brand - Non Workisys - Model POS123

;) :p ;)

I currently own a SONY VAIO and I LOOOOVE it. I previously owned 2 Hewlett Packards and they were the BIGGEST HUNKS of JUNK!!! I would never buy another HP under any circumstances.

We have a Dell desktop and a Dell laptop. Our desktop is getting old and has had some problems, but we will probably still with Dell and buy another one. I love being able to choose exactly what my computer comes with, instead of buying ones from a store where you have little choice.
