This is inspired by the "worst assignment ever" thread. What books did you read in each grade, for English Class or anything? For school only, not anything that you read on your own time.

3rd Grade- Charlotte's Web.
4th Grade - Freckle Juice, Tales of a Fourth-Grade Nothing, and Fudge-something. (I can't remember the title)
5th Grade - The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Where The Red Fern Grows.
6th Grade - Tuck Everlasting, Number the Stars, but I also went ahead and read The Diary of Anne Frank.
7th Grade - A Christmas Carol and Walk Two Moons.
8th Grade - Romeo and Juliet and The Giver.
9th Grade - Julius Caesar, Of Mice and Men, and The Lord of the Flies.
10th Grade - To Kill a Mockingbird.
11th Grade - Coming of Age in Mississippi, ....

6th grade - Call of the Wild
7th Grade - To Kill a Mockingbird, The Ox Bow Incident, The Pearl
8th Grade - Some play about a Piano and we focused on different sonnets and public speaking

some of those were age inappropriate...like night i had nightmares about for weeks. but some of them, like the catcher in the rye, i think should be mandatory for older kids. i was a little young in 8th grade but i'm maturer than most. but all the other ones i think are must reads.
