have fun
oh and have you read the twilight series. its the only thing i can think of right now because i just watched a special on the author.

Where did you see this special? My DD15 loves the Twilight series.

I love Tess Gerritsen, Lisa Gardner and Lisa Jackson. Philip Margolin writes a good lawyer/mystery story. I like the Catherine Coulter FBI series too. My favorite books of all time are the Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum series. They make me laugh out loud! All I do in my spare time is read!!!!

I think we're twins separated at birth!:rotfl: LOVE, love, love Janet Evanovich books, as well as all the other authors you listed.

I can add Stuart Woods, Kathy Reichs, Tami Hoag, Patricia Cornwell and J.A. Jance.

I agree on Janet Evanovich books. They are my favorites especially if you are just wanting to relax and not have to think too much. I haven't read the other authors mentioned but plan on writing them down. I am blessed with a job that if we aren't busy we can read so I am able to read a lot. However I just switched to a busier shift so I may not get to read as often as i used to.

The other thing that I did on our recent trip is I got a book on CD. This way I wouldn't have to work as hard as if I was actually reading. I used a battery operated CD player (Discman?) and took it with me to the pool since my kids are old enough to swim on their own but still need an adult near by. I also was able to plug it in and listen in bed as I was winding down for the night. It helped to drown out the TV since the kids only wanted to watch Disney. It worked out really well since when I had down time I was way too tired to actually lift a book. It was a Jodi Picoult book which is another great author. My favorite of hers is "My Sister's Keeper". The book I listened to was "19 minutes". A little bit depressing for vacation but it worked ok for me.

For this upcoming trip, I have Debbie Macmober's new book - 8 Sandpiper Way and Diane Mott Davidson's book - Sweet Revenge.

If you have not read any John Grisham "The Testament" is an excellent read. I love anything he writes though but this is one of my favorite.

I listen to books on my MP3 player all the time - been doing it for about 10 years. It's great to pass the time when I have to wait someplace.

I get my books from audible.com but a lot of libraries have free downloads available.

Suggestions requested - I like mysteries and books by Alice Hoffman, Elizabeth Berg and Anne Tyler. ~TIA~

The author Janet Evanovich writes mysteries and is very funny. The main character is Stephanie Plum and she is a bounty hunter. I've one friend who literally laughs outloud when she reads her books. There are fourteen in the series so far, she's been adding one about each June for the last few years, not sure how often the years prior. There's a couple in betweeners too, sort of little spin offs with the characters, but inbetween the main books, I think they called them 'a between-the-numbers novel.' Her first of the series is One for the Money, then Two for the Dough and Three to get Deadly. I work at a small town library and that is one of our most popular series for sure! Have recommended it often and haven't yet have anyone not like them! :goodvibes

The twilight series as already mentioned is also very, very popular with young adults and adults as well. My daughter loved it and is very excited for the movie to come out in Dec. :)

If you like christian or family novels at all, there are a couple series by Karen Kingsbury(and Gary Smalley). They follow the Baxter family about a doctor and his wife who have five adult children, and who have a strong faith that they try to live by. It is really good and inspiring, while being in the real world we live in and definitely not preachy at all. There are five books in the first series, each one follows one of the children for it's main focus, but also including the whole family. It begins with the Redemption series(redemption, remember, return, rejoice, reunion), and the second is called the Firstborn series, and the third is the Sunset series. Highly recommend these often, too, and everyone seems to love them. As I said, not preachy at all, but still nice and clean and interesting to read as they follow the family for generations, as it goes into children of the original doctor Baxter and then into their grandchildren in the second series. :thumbsup2

Sue Grafton is a mystery writer with the alphabet series such as "A" is for Alibi, and Mary Higgins Clark has a lot of mysteries and is pretty popular.

Debbie Macomber is also very popular, as well as Jennifer Chiavarini with her popular quilting series, though not mysteries.

Jodi Picoult is also very popular, also mentioned earlier, and those books were quite popular. Her latest is Change of Heart and is really good, and sort of a mystery as you try to figure how things will go, etc. Very thought provoking, as her others are also!

Good luck finding something fun to read on your trip and have a great time! :goodvibes

Not books, but I throw that stack of magazines and catalogs that I always mean to get through to the pool. I tear out recipes and things I want to order and toss the rest.
