What beach do you go to while at Disney?

I realize there's not one right there;). We're thinking of heading to a Florida beach this summer and if we can find a nice one close enough to Disney, we're thinking we could add a day or two to our vacation by driving over to Disney for a couple days.

Any recommendations for beaches? Hotels?

TIA

**sorry if this isn't the best forum for this, couldn't find a beach type forum.

Cocoa Beach is due east and has lots of related things to see and do. Daytona Beach is up I4.

St. Pete Beach would be my choice probably. Quieter than Clearwater. I'm not a fan of east coast beaches though.

Have you looked at Disney's Vero Beach resort? I think it is about 1.5 - 2 hrs from Disney?

We had a great time this summer at Coco Beach. It was the first time for our kids to see the ocean and taste salt water. They didn't care for it all that much (I don't remember it being THAT salty) but we still had a great time. You had to walk out a bit for deeper water, so that was nice for the kids to be able to play closer to shore. That was the only day (out of 10 days) that any of us burned, so be sure to reapply the sunscreen often. I think the reflection off the light sand is what did it.

We just went for the day though, so I can't tell you about hotels. It looked like there was a lot to do in the area.

Cocoa is a fovorite of ours! Nice and close, and we also love to visit Ron Jon's while we are there!
