What Attractions Do You Skip?

What attractions do you skip when you're at:

Magic Kingdom?
Animal Kingdom?
EPCOT?
MGM?

Why?

There are very few attractions that we "skip" all the time. We prioritize and have our own "A" (or should that be "E"?) list, "B" list, etc. that we see as time and crowds allow.

The only rides that don't appeal to me are:

MK:
Alien Encounter. We usually have small kids with us, plus too many people comments on it's "un-Disney" like character.

Mickey's and Minnie's Country Houses. It's too often a "mad house" in there with wall-to-wall people.

Astro Orbiter: Long waits for a short "Dumbo-clone" ride.

Mad Tea Party: I spin fast, I puke. I'm down for the day until my inner ear returns to normal. No thanks.

Epcot:
The Living Seas is coming close to being on my list. It's in serious need of a rework. There's nothing there that draws me back.

MGM:
No real turn-offs for me.

AK:
Kali River Rapids. Maybe this month when it 90 degree while we're there, but we usually go in cooler months and getting completely soaked with the air temp is below 60 degrees is no fun my my book.

Conservation Station. If you have a decent zoo within driving distance to your home, skip this one.

Primal Hurl.... er "Whirl". Did it once. It was OK, but again, we have "lower class" amusement parks near us. If I want to set my amusement park sights lower.... I'll go ride the "Wild Mouse" at Michigan Adventure and save a lot of money.

This will be our kids' first trip...and this is what we are PLANNING to skip:

MK - Alien Encounter (for obvious reasons with kiddos)
AK - Rafiki's Planet Watch (hopefully...if they'll let me!)
Epcot - The Land (boring) Ellen's Energy (too long)
MGM - Great Movie Ride, Backlot Tour (don't think my kids would enjoy)

aw man, jcemom you are skipping a lot of good stuff. The great movie ride is like the the best ride in the world! and..the lands? come on, two words food rocks. It may not seem that the lands has a lot of good stuff in it, but it does, and shouldnt be overlooked.

I will not go up in the Swiss Family Treehouse. Been there done that and don't feel like climbing all those stairs.

Let's see

anything that has a height requirement over 46". That's the height of my youngest dd.

Alien encounter - too scary & my oldest dd is a very timid soul.

All simulator rides (motion sickness). You can keep body wars! dh will skip the tea cups and other things that spin.

All of Animal Kingdom. We have limited park days and something had to go. I love, love, love the zoo, but this is nothing like a zoo and it just doesn't appeal to me.

MK - never done Alien Encounter but DS and I are braving it next trip.

never done Astro Orbiter but want to just to say I did.

TeaCups - they had to carry me off of there once.

Epcot -
Living Seas
Body Wars - never done, was preganant when it first opened and DH said don't ever do it, I may do it next trip just because again.
Most of the circlevision films in World Showcase the kids have no patience for these. I'm going to do them all on our kidless trip in October.

MGM -
Backstage Pass I find to be really lame

AK - it would be easier to list what we do, then what we don't do.

AK - Tough to be a Bug - too scary for my kids and they hate the smell and being stuck in the back...
Bird show becuase it is lame

MGM - tower of terror
Epcot we love everything

MK Alien Encounter, snow white- too scary and the aladin flying carpet, dumbo

Well, I know better than to plan to see/do everything...so something has to go! LOL

I wouldn't mind Food Rocks, but I think my boys (10 and 9) are too old, and DD who will be 1 won't notice if we skip it!
The rest of the land pavillion I can do without. JMO And since we're planning only one day for Epcot.....

I've never been to MGM, so those choices were made just based on what I've read. We'll do them if time allows. We have a full day for MGM, but don't know until we get there how things will go with our little one.

How about you? You must skip SOMETHING?

MK-- after one time through-- IASW (classic that had to be done once, but that was enough to last a lifetime). I can honeslty say there is still a decent little list of rides we haven't made it onto at MK because we keep saying next time. Usually the wait is too long and we don't want to have to come back w/ fastpass.

MGM- star tours- only because simulators make me sick- ds and dh do this one. Love everything else there!

AK-- about 1/2 the park. We really only go for a few hours and hit up the major attractions. Still haven't seen Lion King yet, that is a must do next trip!

Epcot-- well, other than Test Track I think most of the rides here are not that good. The exhibts and shops are more of what Epcot is about for me.

Of course there skipping things each time is why we come back.

We skip some now because we've seen them enough but we could go back later.

Magic Kingdom - Space Mountain and Alien Encounter (a kid that's not ready), Snow White (dull), spinners (duller), Tea Cups (makes us dizzy), Hall of Presidents (seen it enough).

Epcot - the Living Seas (needs rehab), the Land in general except Food Rocks (seen enough), Body Wars (makes me ill), any of the movies in World Showcase (except will try new movie about China)

MGM - Tower of Terror (brrrrr....)

Animal Kingdom - Triceratops Spin (dull), Conservation Station (ditto when we've been at least)

We like most of the same rides, but there are a few rides that I do without my husband and vice versa.

MK - My Dh doesn't like Country Bear Jamboree..at all. I really don't remember it, but I remember that I liked it and we are doing it this year with our 2 and 1 yo.
My Dh rides Alien Encounter by himself...I didn't like it at all.
We have never done Mickey's Toon Town..This Oct will be the first year we take our kids with us.

Epcot - Dh doens't like Living seas so we haven't done that. Again this year my son will like the fish.
Food Rocks..this never appealed to either of us.
Circle of Life - Dh was never interested in this one either

MGM - I ride Tower of Terror alone (DH has a fear of heights)
Star Tours - I didn't like it the time I did it.
WE have never done Beauty and the Beast but this October it is on my list of things to do.

AK - Lemme just tell you what we do. Tough to be a bug..this year we will have to swap with the kids..too scary for them.
Safari..It's cool to see animals that close to you and my Ds will love it.
Rapids - although the rapids isn't top priority and can be skippied if need be.

Again, this October will be the first time with kids and our longest trip, so I am really looking forward to doing things with the kids!

These are the attractions I tend to skip usually. It doesn't necissarily mean that I don't like them, but they're not very high on my priority list.

MK
- Hall of Presidnets- Just not interesting to me. I do American Adventure insteed.
- Cinderella's Golden Carousel- It's a Carousel. I can ride one anywhere if I wanted to. (But I love the organ music and enjoy watching it)
- Character Greetings Location in Toontown- There are so many other places to see Mickey and friends with shorter lines.
- Tom Sayer's Island- I just relized I havn't been there in 10 years! Maybe I should try it next time. It's pretty nice.

EPCOT
- Food Rocks- Never done it. Don't plan to
- Making of Me- See above.
- Universe of Energy- I'm not interesting in Energy that much that I would spend that long on a ride about it.
- Circle Vision Movies- Too long of a period to stand up after walking around the park (although I will give the new China one a try)

MGM
- Rockin' Roller Coaster- Not a big coaster fan.
- Playhouse Disney- No kids. Not interested.
- Sounds Dangerous- My least favorite Disney attraction. Hope to never have to do it again.

AK
- Kali River Rapids- Too wet
- Pocahontas- Not a bad show, but once was enough

Jungle Cruise (reminds me of a SF ride)
Astro Orbiter (too long of a wait for little thrills, although I did ride it at e-ride night with my DD)
Dumbo (DD is not interested)

Epcot:
Living Seas (Sad, sad attraction)
Body Wars

MGM:
Playhouse Disney (We did Bear when DD was younger)
Backlot Tour (Hasn't changed much in the 14 years since I first rode it)

AK:
Kali River Rapids (I do not like to take showers at theme parks!)
Triceratops Spin (See Dumbo)

MK - Most of Fantasyland, kids older (9, 11, 15) and not really interested, plus lines way toooo long.

AK - Really love most of this park; In past, skipped most of the shows cause didn't want to wait!

MGM - Backstage Tour

Epcot - Body Pavillon, Energy.

Almost fell out of the Asto Orbiter once. Well, almost. I'm 6'4", and there really wasn't room for two of us in there (even for very close friends). Is it me? Aren't there seat belts up there?

Wow! This is sooooo tough! I always like to fit as much into our trips as possible, but we find it impossible to see EVERYTHING! Let's see..

MK - we don't do much in Toon Town (no kids) but if time allows, we try to do barnstormer and visit Mickey and Minnie's homes.
- no spin rides for us
- swiss family robinson (I'm usually too hot and tired to bother with those stairs)

Epcot - making of me
- Living Sea (isn't the same without the ride )
-Innoventions (only if time allows)
-Body Wars (went last year and quickly remembered why I avoided it! Eek)
-we don't dawdle in World Showcase. We love all the entertainment, but don't care for all the shopping

MGM
-skip all of the kid shows (ie. Bear)
- don't do the Honey I Shrunk playground

AK
- bird show
- spin ride
- rafiki conservation station (can't remember the new name)
-pocahontas show

AK - Triceratop Spin, Boneyard

Epcot - Food Rocks, Living Seas (it breaks my heart the way it's gone downhill), The Land - I've never done the WS movies because I was traveling with a kid - this year I'll probably check them out with DH

MGM - Playhouse Disney, Sounds Dangerous, HISTK Playground, Indiana Jones - I might skip the Backlot Tour this time, I've seen it enough - it needs an update badly

*Epcot - none that I can think of, I like it all
*MGM - I can now safely say 'Drew Carey's sounds dangerous'
*AK - hmmm, none really. Although Primeval Whirl got me a little sick. Not enough to BE sick, but I felt the ol' tummy turning.

Also if I could add a resort to this list. The All-Star Music! Wow, thin walls, could hear toilets flushing 3 rooms down. LOL

That's all I have for now. Good thread though, I like it.
