My husband and I are planning a trip to WDW. We have never been. My husband isnt into sports and actually, it's probably going to be miracle to drag him away from the house. He is a truckdriver and when he gets home he wants to stay home and watch westerns.

This trip is totally my idea because I have always wanted to go since I was a kid. I want to know what kind of attractions or features await that my husband is just going enjoy? He's turning 40 this year.

I appreciate your help! He keeps fussing about how all this is a waste of money and it's mostly for kids, and he don't know why I wanna go down there and how far the trip is and the price of gas. yada yada yada...haha Im a big kid. I bet when he gets down there he'll act like a teenager.

here are my DHs favorites:

MK: Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Buzz, TTA

EP: Test Track, Mission Space, Universe of Energy, Soarin, HISTA

AK: Expedition Everest, ITTBAB, Dinosaur

MG: RnRC, TOT, GMR

Hi, In addition to these, I would add

Stunt Show at MGM (Hollywood Studios)

Kind of hard to please someone who sits and watches Westerns and is convinced he will not have fun...
If he does not come around after a couple of days, give him money to rent a bunch of westerns, check out all the posts here from singles, and get over to the parks and have a ball.
Just wander around the parks, take in all the absolutely unique Disney touches on everything. Spend a little money and take the 4 hour Keys to the Kingdom Tour at Disney Magic Kingdom. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/tourDetail?id=KeystotheKingdomTourPage
It is really fun...
Go to Animal Kingdom and do not miss the the Nemo Show and Festival of the Lion King...
Be sure toa catch all the parades and fireworks at all the parks

You have earned this trip...enjoy it!

Sam 3996,

Your husband sounds alot like mine. DH is a truck driver, is 40, and thought Disney World was for the kids. We went for the first time in October 2005. Hubby didn't want to go, but did it for me and our two sons. Well, he is now a true Disneyite (word????). We are in the process of planning our 3rd trip. DH likes most of the rides other than those in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. I had to lie to him to get him on It's a Small World. I didn't tell him what it was until after we entered the line, and people were behind us!! :rolleyes1

His favorites are: Space Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Test Track, Soarin', Rock and Roll Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Mount Everest. He truly likes most of the rides other than the ones in the area I mentioned above!!!

My hubbie is almost as bad as I am now. He keeps asking how many more days before we go!!!!!!!!!

Yee Haw! I am excited. I have a feeling the same thing will happen to my husband. He never was into racing neither till I took him to a race and he almost acted like a wild child when those cars started going around. haha I think the reason we thought we had to get married was because we were so physically attracted to one another. When we started trying to live and get along together, well that's still a work in progress. We had absolutely NOTHING in common, but Im training him. :teacher: hehe

I wonder how much its gonna cost two people to go down there about 4 or 5 days if we keep our accomodation expenses low? You think 2,000.00 might be enough?

Boy Im just itching to go! I'm already figuring out what to wear, ha! :laundy: Im so glad to hear from somebody else who's got a 'weekend couch potato' for a husband. lol

In answer to the original question What rides are fun for men?

Of course it depends on the man, but I love everything except those specifically designed for little kids. I am a 42 year old man with a DW only.

They have great Segway Tours at Epcot and Ft Wilderness. The Ft Wilderness Segway tour is 'offroad'.

He may also dig renting a Searaycer speedboat to take out on Bay Lake/Seven Seas lagoon. There's a pic in the link below

If you enjoy the occasional alcoholic drink, one of my favorite pastimes is drinking around World Showcase in Epcot. Plenty of diffrent drinks to try, and all the world ambassador CMs are great to talk with once you've had a few drinks.

As a 12 year old boy inhabiting a 41 yo man's body, I can tell you that I love every single ride at WDW. But it's also the little things:

  • I enjoy strolling around World Showcase at Epcot, people watching and just soaking in the various countries architecture, sights and smells.
  • China has an excellent exhibit on the terra cotta soldiers that guarded an emperor's tomb.
  • I like what they have done to the film in O Canada.
  • Of course no visit to that side of the Lagoon would be complete without listening to the bands in Canada and Great Britain - with a tall frosty beverage of choice.
  • One Man's Dream at DHS is a very well done presentation on Walt Disney, and gives you a respite from the crowds.
  • The shows at all the parks are all Broadway quality.
  • Check out the folks who make the crystal masterpieces at MK and DTD - fascinating to watch.
  • Of course a nice quiet walk anywhere in the Happiest Place on Earth with his DW while holding hands and eating ice cream - I mean what man wouldn't appreciate that?????

Have fun and enjoy. You can enjoy WDW on just about any budget - all depends on what you want to splurge on and where you may want to cut corners.

Dang - this just made December seem that much further away!!!! :lmao:

I think a lot of guys are this way before going. You'll see plenty of post about gals "dragging" their men to Disney and how they really dont want to go but most of them report back that things actually worked out fine and they had a good time. There is an awfully lot to do in the Orlando/ Disney area your husband must have atleast some other interest that I'm sure you can find something that appeals to him. Personally I am looking forward to some of the exhibits and experiences in Epcot the more I read about things the more excited I am getting that I can find plenty of things to do.

Also I have never met a truck driver who doesn't like to eat so maybe you can look into some places that he would really like to eat.
