I have really been thinking about WW alot lately. I am not strictly following anything thing although, I am doing my OWN low carb thing.
Since I have learned more about carbs nd how they work I have adjusted to it but find it very hard at times. I was reading through some journals and just seeing the things that are allowed on WW is great!
I mean I know it works (or they would be out of business) and of course through the WISH board and the gym, many have been so successful on it.
Even though, I do not have a certian number of carbs, I try not to eat them and if I do, I eat low carb bread, low carb ice cream etc.
I have lost a total of 37 pounds doign this and of course exercising, so I am little afraid of changig things but, as far as this being a LIFESTYLE, I don;t know how long I could do this, it is really hard at times!
I have an ideal time that I would like to reach my goal so changing things (my current eating plan) when it's working is a big decision for me.
I am certain some will say try it and see how you like it.....and I probably will, I am just wondering if anyone else has changed plans, around midgoal? If so, what where you doing and what did you switch to? tell ma about it?

you guys think I should do it?

thanks
renee

If you feel more comfortable with WW, I say go for it. The way to truly lose weight and keep it off is lifestyle change. If you aren't happy on lc or feel deprived, you will go off program at some point. If you can see yourself sticking with WW longterm, then do it. A single diet isn't right for everyone. Find what works for you.

Weight loss plans are like clothes: you have to find what fits. And sometimes, mix and match seperates are the way to go! :)

As Strings said, you might just want to give it a try for two weeks and see how you enjoy it. If you like the program, AND you are seeing the results you want, then by all means, stick with Weight Watchers. If you enjoy it, but you're just not seeing the results you want, switch back to your old plan to lose, and use Weight Watchers to maintain.

It definitely IS a lifestyle change, so you have to find something that you'll be comfortable with for the REST OF YOUR LIFE.

Let us know how you make out! :)

I have a thread from Thursday floating around. I have been on WW for 4 months and I am midgoal. I felt like the scale wasn't moving and decided to try something different. I did and lost about 5 pounds last week, however the program is VERY structured. The plan is not a life style change for me, it is a quick fix. So, DH and I decided Mon-Fri stay on new resticted plan. Weekends back to WW. Maintenance will be WW plan because it fits our lifestyle. After you count your pints for awhile you know most of them by heart and just add up your day in your head and the occasional splurges are okay!

Good luck in your decision! I figure my metabolism will be SO confused the scale will have to move downwards.:smooth:

Hi Renee,

Well I love WW's, so I only have wonderful things to say about it. I feel I can definately stick to this for life as a TOTAL WOL! I love that I can eat what I want and it fits the program. The downfall for some people though, is that they still eat tons of the refinded carbs and sugars. I know when I do, I crave things and have a hard time stopping my overeating. If I am careful, and watch what I eat I don't crave or overeat. The great thing is, that when I want these things (once in a while), they are completely on program.

Example: I don't usually eat cakes or ice cream. I find I have a hard time stopping, or it leads to wanting to eat more. Friday, I brought in a WW recipe for Pineapple angel food cake. I had one slice during our work party. Then I brought what was left home. I was hungry on my drive home, and something made me eat what was left on the drive home. Eating that one slice of cake made me resort back to bad habits. I am sure its the sugars and white flour that made me do things I can normally handle. If I don't eat it, I don't do crazy things to eat more. Funny how that works.

You could easily do WW's, and watch your carbs more often than not. But it will allow you to be able to eat these things if you want to. I try to make sure the carbs I eat are whole grain, complex carbs. I can eat tons, without getting that feeling!

Good luck in your decision. You definately must find a program that you can live with for life.

I tried Atkins last fall. I did it for 4 weeks. Yes I lost weight. But it is NOT a way of life for me. I went off of it and gained back the weight, plus another 10 lbs in no time - 2 months? So it just wasn't for me personally.

I started WW in Dec. The weight is certainly slower to come off, but I am comfortable with that. I don't feel deprived on WW. In fact, I ate 3 homebaked choc chip cookies yesterday! And it was completely "legal". So now I don't feel the need to cheat and have any more. I satisfied my craving and that was that. In other words, I can live with this WW thing.

I will say what others have said. I have kept the lessons I learned on Atkins. I eat much less pasta, potatoes, rice... Don't get me wrong, I do eat them, but not as often. And I try to make better choices - whole wheat pasta, multigrain bread, etc.

Ultimately, you have to find what works for you personally. And bear in mind, you need to find what will be your new *weigh* of life.

Good luck with your decsion. let us know what it is!
