We are going to Disneyland for a Cheer Competition in April. I have stayed at Marriott before and prefer to stay again, but it looks like we may be staying at the Red Lion. The pictures I have seen do not impress me. Anyone stay at the hotel and what is your opinion of it? Any pictures would also be great! I am somewhat of a hotel snob, but my husband won't let me pay the higher price to stay at the Disney Resorts.

I am also a hotel snob and we snagged a great rate at the Red Lion for a last minute trip. The room showed some signs of aging (broken knob on dresser) but generally speaking it was fine. They bathroom was nice and even had Bath and Body works toiletries and the beds were comfy. I would stay there again especially with what we paid ($66 for a theme park view). The walk to the parks was not bad but it is also right in front of the Toy Story parking lot. Not sure if it was allowed, or frowned upon, but one day we did walk back and use the shuttle to the parks. We did prefer the walk as there was a line to board the bus and we could have been halfway to the park with a stop for coffee by the time we boarded.

We liked it. Close enough to walk although we also did the Toy Story shuttle. Room was not huge, but comfortable. For the price and location, I recommend it.

My mom very much prefers to stay in nice hotels, and she preferred the Red Lion to the Paradise Pier. We found the service to be friendlier (they graciously offered to store my mom's rented ECV at the front desk every night and even charge it for her). The room itself was pretty nice with some modern-looking updates.

For the price, I also preferred the Red Lion. The walk was a little longer than I liked, but I had no trouble. I did take the Toy Story shuttle back toward the room for a mid-afternoon break--I'm not sure it was much faster than walking but it saved my feet a bit. :)

The hotel was fine. I didn't like the location. I do have 2 young kids and the shuttle was a huge pain and it was really far to walk with them. I will never stay here or anywhere else that is not in easy walking distance again.

Thank you all for your input. I am thinking about switching after the competition to a closer hotel. I have a 5yr old little princess and I am not carrying her back to the hotel the whole week we are in DisneyLand. I am a hotel snob, so having a very hard time with this trip. Thank you again for all your help. Sounds like it won't be as bad as I am thinking it will be.

We stayed there in June 2011, and we are staying there again in March. I thought it was great for the price. As far as the distance, there is an ART Shuttle that comes right to the front door. We didn't walk at all if we didn't want to. I'm a hotel snob, too, but the fact that I'm returning means it made the cut. :) (It was CLEAN. That's my number one requirement.)

We stayed there for 4 nights, Thanksgiving before last.
The room was OK, actually liked it better than the Fairfield Inn, but did not like the location. Nothing in walking distance for a quick bite the night we got there... unless you like the I-Hop next door. We did not have a car, so I felt stranded.

We got the hotel off of Priceline for $50.00 a night, so it was worth that...
