I'm working, thank God the opening shift, so hopefully I can be on my way home by 9 or 10! (Ya right, like that's going to happen) :rotfl2:

What are your plans for the New Years party tonight?

I hope all of us have a great New Year, full of joy and happiness, with lot's of Disney magic!

We are planning a quiet evening at home. We're going to make some pasta with meat sauce, and drink a nice, big martini :thumbsup2

I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year's Eve!

We're staying at home with our new puppy.

Santa delivered a miniature dacshund named Tolliver to us about a month back, and since he's never even dealt with a thunderstorm yet, we figured we'd better be home to reassure him when the fireworks start (there's a fairly big display near our house in the Ocoee/Winter Garden/Windermere area).

So, we're ordering pizza and popping open a bottle of bubbly with the little guy.

Happy New Year everyone!

Rob

That's a very nice gift from Santa! Do you have a picture for us?

Our big ole 65 pound boy is terrified of thunder and fireworks. That's another reason we stay home. Have fun with your puppy!

He is the BEST Christmas present ever! Here you go.

This one is my partner and me with the puppy in front of the Christmas Tree. I'm the one in the loud shirt.

Anybody want to guess who Tolliver is named after?

Tolliver's cute!

We're also spending a quiet night at home. My DW worked this morning and I shoveled snow--although there's still more to go--but, we're planning to just relax this evening.

We'll snuggle up a bit with our cat and a kitten that we've been looking after for friends that are away for the holidays.

Oh my gosh that is the CUTEST puppy! The owners are pretty up there too! :upsidedow

We're having one of our favorite dinners that we learned to prepare from a visiting chef during a FWF. We have a couple of bottles of champagne in the refrigerator.

I also accidently ran into the sale of a lifetime, so I've just given our bedroom a new look with a beautiful new duvet, shams and fluffy eiderdown. :teeth:

A quiet night for us, too. But thanks for the info on the local fireworks! I didn't know about them.

Happy New Year everyone and Orlando Mike, drive safe on your way home, ok?

Oh, stop! You're going to make me blush! :upsidedow

I'm not sure if it's a formal fireworks show or what, but the last two years there has been what looks and sounds like quite the NYE fireworks extravaganza in our neighboorhood. It appears to us be south of Highway 50 near Maguire Road

I will be cooking all evening. Gabby's mom and her friend are in town, so I am cooking them the New Year's Day meal. I am taking a break for a few minutes, but after that, I have a ham to bake, potato salad to make, corn bread to bake, deviled eggs to make, and black eyed peas to put on for a long slow cook overnight. In the morning, I have cabbage to boil, turnip greens to make, and rolls to bake. I have already got the pre-meal munchies prepared and ready to serve.

At some point tonight, the goals for the cooking will be met and Gabby will be home from "entertaining the old ladies" and we will have some time for ourselves. We have a bottle of champagne that it turns out that we alone will share.....no old ladies. ;) We have plenty of munchies and Christmas cookies left to nibble on. I imagine that we are going to watch some sort of countdown show on tv and then head to bed.

To everyone that will be on the roads tonight, please be extra careful! Happy New Year! Maggie

Awwwwww! That is a cute baby! He reminds me of my precious baby Pearl, who was my childhood dog. You have to love those droopy little ears and that sweet face.

I have no guess as to why he is named Tolliver. Wanna tell us? Maggie

Here's a clue: He's named after one of our favorite literary characters. Who happened to be a gay man from Orlando.

Anyone? Anyone?

Beuller? Beuller?

We are staying home as well. BBQ pork chops, au gratin potatoes, and home-made shells and cheese for dinner.

I also have a baby who's afraid of fireworks, but mine is the blue and gold macaw. He flips out every night at 9pm (9:30 for the past month) when the Epcot fireworks go off LOL.

Both of the boys are working tonight till 2:00 am. Hubby's playing poker so I'm plannin' to be in my jammies early with a good book (feeling a teensy bit under the weather).

p.s. -- That is ONE ADORABLE pup!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!!!!

Isn't Tolliver the last name of a character from "Tales of the City"? I think he won an underwear contest in the movie lol

Ding ding ding ding! We have a winner.

Yes, the dog is named after Michael Tolliver from "Tales of the City" fame. Which just proves to all of our friends just how gay we really are. :rotfl:

Just dont let Tolliver get into Mrs. Madrigals plants! :rotfl2:

I hear the Queen of England is especially potent! :rolleyes1

If Mr.s Madrigal is bringin' treats fer the Desperate Housewives Shindig on Sunday, I am SO in. (for once, the Smilie library has failed me...)

Well sometimes he ACTS like he's been into those plants. But on the whole he's a real sweetie.

:lmao:

I just finished rereading that one last week! LOL

Such great books.

Anyone else read the new one "Michael Tolliver Lives" yet? If not, pick it up! It's as good as the others!

That puppy is TOO cute!

I am obviously out of the loop on his name, though. The only Tolliver I know was the dean of boys at Mayport Jr. High (near Jacksonville) in the early 1980's. I was pretty sure that wasn't the one you guys were thinking of!:rotfl2:
