Planning to be at Boarwalk for 2 nights December 4-6.

We would like to know what we should request. We are thirthy somethings, non-smokers with 2 kids 7 & 5.

What do we need to know! I want to call and request accomadation but don't know what to ask for? :)

Don't want to get lost on the list, and I really could use some help!

BUMP;)

Do you have preferred or standard booked? For preferred, the choices are Boardwalk view, main pool, quiet pool, Swan/Dolphin. For standard, the rooms are along the front driveway around to across from the tennis courts. Those closet to the elevator face the valet parking pickup, those farther out are near the pond by the parking lot. Most of the standard upper floors have an Illuminations view, mainly those facing the bus stop.

These are the following I always request
1) Non-smoking
2)Top-Floor
3)Far away (yes, far away) from the elevators
4) Standard or pref. view doesn't really matter to me. Ilike pre. view but its comes down to how many points ya wanna use

I think smoking or non-smoking is always the best bet for the first request. Some people honestly don't care....but if you do at all, then that probably should be a priority.

Then close to the elevators. It's not a big deal to me, but with two tired little ones that last 100 yards to the room might get awfully long! :)

To us, view is not that big of a deal. If it is important to you, I'd move that up to #2 on the request list.

Good luck!

We like standard view top floor away from the elevators. It gives the best view of the fireworks at EPCOT.

If we have a preferred room, we truly love the first floor with a view of the quiet pool. With Community Hall right outside your door and a quick exit to all locations, it is the best IMHO.

Always Non Smoking as the #1 request.

We also like one of the top floors standard view away from the elevators. Our DS loves to sit on the balcony and watch the Epcot fireworks.

I really enjoyed the Boardwalk view, but we were too low to see any fireworks, so I'd request upper floor next time.

I am compiling a list of BWV rooms and essential info so people can make requests or know at check-in that a particular room doesn't work for them. I don't have many so far but here is the link http://members.aol.com/InstImpres/boardwalk

I am hoping people will e-mail or PM me info and we can keep it growing.

Thanks and good luck

With all due respect, I think you are encouraging unrealistic expectations and setting up the people who use your list for disappointment.

While I certainly believe you personally understand that non-medical requests are not guaranteed and that the more specific the requests, the greater the liklihood of not getting them, many people do not! I'm basing that on personally having witnessed a couple of nasty ADULT temper tantums at the BWV front desk as well as some of the posts on this very board. Sometimes, those front desk CMs deserve hazardous duty pay.

Nearly all of the rooms at the BWV are pre-assigned. If someone insists on another room because they "know right at check in that it won't work for them", the room the front desk gives them may be yours (or someone else's who made his/her reservation at 11 months). How would you feel then? Maybe by the time you or that someone else arrives, all that is left is whatever you consider BWV's "dumpster view". Why isn't smoking preference and general view requests like Boardwalk, quiet pool, Luna Park, close to elevators, upper floor, etc.) good enough?

If you proceed with this, I hope that you post some type of "not guaranteed" disclaimer in bold letters at the top of the link/page that contains the information.

It's JMHO and YMMV, but please give it some thought. Thanks

P.S. If I have misunderstood your purpose, please accept my sincere apology.

CarolMN -

I am at a loss to find the link right now because search and member info seems to down. There was a post about a week and a half ago regarding being charged for a room change once you got there and wouldn't it be great if you could know there was something unacceptable about the room 1st. I than put a post asking why people weren't using the room report section. I was amazed to only find 8 BWV reports. WebmasterDoc suggested we put in non-changable items such as view, etc. as things people were writing such as "broken toaster" could be fixed the next day but still appears in the report. The other problem is the room reports only stay on-line for 120 days. So, I thought this would be a way to keep a more comprehensive list. I believe many room reports also don't get posted because they are points rented, used for cruises, etc.

After seeing so many posts asking the same thing (myself included) what is the best view for....
I again thought this would be a concise way to keep it for everyone and cut down on some repetitive posts.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone. I will remove the link in 24 hours unless I hear there are several people intereted.

Thanks
Sandy

Keep the link. I find the list to be informative. I really don't understand why having this information is a bad thing for a DVC member. And last I checked, getting information for DVC members is what this BB is all about.

I for one would like to know which rooms are "acceptable for my family" and which ones are not. While checking in if I realize the room they assigned me is not acceptable, I should be able to request a change to another room suitable to my tastes "if" available. If there isn't availability, then so be it. I will just wander over to EPCOT and have a pint or 2 and by the time I come back, I will think I am in the President's suite. JMHO.

Sandy - I'm not offended and I appreciate the efforts you are making to add value to the boards. I do remember the thread you are referring to. I just don't think people should be making a fuss because they didn't get the view or the specific room or the floor, etc. that they requested. Having the information may be a good thing - I just didn't want it to raise expectations to even more unrealistic levels or to be used to bully the CMs. That's what I'm afraid of and I didn't want to give those people any additional "ammunition". Upon reflection, it probably won't matter at all because of course, those that do fuss and bully always have a good reason and feel absolutely entitled to what they consider an "acceptable" room.

If my post gave you any grief at all, I apologize - not my intent. Carol

On our first trip to the Boardwalk, we had the second to last room at the end of the hall way way away from the elevator. At the end of a long day, the walk is pretty depressing. So for our next trip I requested non-smoking & near the elevators.

We have stayed at BWV twice. Studios both times. As far as I know my brother (the DVC member, not me) only requested non-smoking. Of course we got preferred view only because his home resort is VWL. (It's not necessarily *my* preferred view--lol.)

Both times we have been close to the elevators on the 3rd floor. Without asking for it. And that was convenient. The first time, our room (me, DH, DS) was around the corner to the right and down the hall a few rooms (a lock-off studio, FWIW), and faced the main pool. Their room (my brothers and parents) was around the corner to the left and down the hall a few rooms (a dedicated studio), and faced the Village Green/Boardwalk.

The second time we had the stdio right next to the stairs (left from the elevators), and theirs was next door. Both faced the Green/Boardwalk. If I had my choice, I'd get a studio across the hall that faced the pool. We were there right when they were taking the Holiday decorations down in January--so we got to hear it all at 1 in the morning! Not to mention the drunken conventioneers heading back to their rooms after hitting the "clubs" along the Boardwalk. Okay, I'm just assuming they were drunken conventioneers, but they sure were LOUD!

That's just my opinion anyway.

This is a late reply because I was looking for something else and ran across this older thread.

Our first visit home in 4/01 was in a ground floor 1 BR to the right of the pool if you are in it with the clown to your back. I can't remember the number. But with our two older kids and a new baby (6 mos) it was wonderful. We were right off the first hallway and when the baby was napping the kids could go out to the pool by way of the Living Room and not disturb her. We found that side not too noisy at night during a very busy week (busiest we've ever seen the parks).

Next April we'll be a little more mobile so we might request a BW view from a top floor, but would be happy to face the pool again especially on ground level.

I am not sure what to request for our 2 nights at Boardwalk Dec. 4-6!

We are planning the new Luau at Poly night #1 and are going to Mickey Magical Christmas Parade night #2! We don't plan to be in the room much but I think location is a concern!

Close to buses
Close to Pool
Close to our car?
Close to Boardwalk! (Flying Fish YUM!:D )

We are limited on time and trying to squeeze so much in!

We have never stayed at Boardwalk and have on 2 nights before our 7 night Cruise! :bounce:

Thanks again!
