Hello,

I am planning a trip to WDW for my family and we have not been since 2004. It was easy then because my son was two and everything fascinated him but he is going to be 8 this time. I am also taking my parents with me so I am hoping to make the whole family happy. Do you have any must go to places that you could share with me? Please! :hippie:

Mami

Not sure how they would do with your family, but my only "must do" locations are Raglan Road, Flying Fish, and Via Napoli. Everything else was good, but those 3 really stand out above the rest.

Our must do are character meals. Even with every aged group with us, we always love character meals and the food is good. We kick off our first night with Chef Mickeys for dinner and always do Crystal Palace in MK.

Our faves are:

Magic Kingdom: Plaza
Epcot: Tutto Italia
Hollywood Studios: Sci-Fi Dine In
Animal Kingdom: Tusker House
Downtown Disney: Paradiso 37
Resorts: Yachtsman Steakhouse, Il Mulino, 'Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, Boma

Our must go to restaurants are:

- Akershus Breakfast (before park opens)
- Cape May Cafe Breakfast
- Le Cellier (lunch)
- California Grill
- Crystal Palace Breakfast (before park opens)

Our must dos:

Crystal Palace breakfast - every trip but one since DD12 was 2 - it was being refurbed one trip, but we went there later that year

Boma dinner- your DS8 will probably like going over to AKL to see the animals - DD12's first choice

50's Prime Time - DD8's first choice - another family tradition :goodvibes

Our must do restaurants include: Chef Mickey's for breakfast, Akershus for dinner, O'hana for dinner, and 1900 PF for dinner. We love all of these for the food and for the ones that offer it, the character interaction.

Kona Cafe is a must do for us for breakfast, I love it. We also like to do at least one character meal depending on your child's personality, my girls love Princess Breakfast. I personally liked Chef Mickey's but DH didn't like the food at all so won't go back but I think kids really enjoy it.

Ohana dinner
Cape May Clam Bake dinner
1900 PF breakfast
Mama Melrose dinner (Fantasmic dinner package)
Coral Reef dinner
I love Le Cellier dinner, but can't seem to sacrifice 2 TS credits for it now

CS: wolfgang puck express

Raglan Road.
Rose & Crown
If we are doing AK(we don't do it every trip) Tusker House Breakfast

Boma. It is the only one of my ADR's that is not a new place for me. Granted I have only been 3 times, but I did love Boma. Be sure to leave time to tour the resort too. It is definitely worth the trip out. It was cold and rainy and a tropical storm was moving through on our night to visit. After dinner we pulled some chairs up to the firepit. It felt so warm and cozy and like we were kicked back at home. The atmosphere was so relaxing and comfortable it just didn't feel like we were in the middle of a huge hotel lobby. While kicked back at the fire we got to talking to another guest who was waiting for his table at Boma and he raved so much about his previous night's meal of fried chicken at 50's Prime Time so I had to get an ADR for this trip. :goodvibes
As far as memorable food at Boma the soups were awesome. I didn't try the meats though as they were not well done enough for me. My husband seemed to like everything he tried. I didn't like the zebra dome though. I wasn't expecting the liquor flavor at all. Sour face here. We were so full I really don't remember dessert other than that.

Crystal Palace for breakfast before the parks open
Chef de France for lunch

We are doing a few other repeats for our next trip.... Sci-Fi, Le Cellier, Chef Mickey dinner, but the above are our only must-dos each trip.

When we are with the whole family...Chef Mickey's is a tradition. We usually do breakfast since it's cheaper. We also almost always do Kona Cafe for dinner too as well as California Grill (dinner).

We usually try to do Mama Melrose for lunch or dinner. This is a new one ofr us...only been twice but it's been good both times. It's a must according to my MIL for our next trip.

Also if we can fit it into our trip...Brown Derby for lunch simply for the Cobb Salad...so refreshing for those hot Florida days!

That being said for my upcoming trip this March WITHOUT the rest of the family I have NONE of these scheduled. It's just DH and myself so we are going to try a bunch of new places...easier to try them without the kids!! :rotfl:

Plaza Restaurant at Magic Kingdom and (although the food is ehh) the kids like Pizza Planet at Hollywood Studios.

I disagree with Crystal Palace for breakfast. We were booking our ADRs the other day and discussing whether we wanted to to give Crystal Palace a 2d chance and my daughter's comment was "isn't that the place with the awful breakfast." My response was "yes it is."

Character meals are fun for all ages and there's always a decent variety on the buffets. Chef Mickey's is always good.

We love Kona Cafe in the Polynesian... your son will love the Kona Kone if he likes ice cream. 50's Prime Time in HS is good and entertaining!

Have fun!

Our biggest always must repeat is :

Ohana for supper.

Next on list as a repeat is Flying Fish.

We also always go to Coral Reef as this is my DH favorite place to eat.

Our staples are as follows:

- In DHS, 50's Prime Time Cafe (food is good, but the atmosphere and server interaction is a must-do for us).

- In MK, Crystal Palace - we generally hit CP for the earliest morning reservation available (generally 8:05/8:10).

- Character Dining must-do is Cape May Cafe for breakfast buffet

- Our most recent additions on the upscale side are Yachtsman Steakhouse and Flying Fish Cafe. We were introduce to these last time we stayed and they will now make our list on all future trips.

Cape May--Dinner
Raglan Road--LOVE the service, entertainment, & food ...:thumbsup2
