What are your MGM and EPCOT TS favorites?

I am trying to make ADR's We know we are definitely "doing" Ohana (our fav) and Boma (never been there, but we are staying at AKL) I am stuck for MGM and EPCOT (EPCOT just has TOO many choices) Please tell us your favorites, and help us decide.

We really dislike Coral Reef, and nothing that requires 2 TS points as we are on DDP.

At MGM, our favorite for lunch is Sci-Fi, dinner Prime Time (it's worth putting up with the nonsense for the atmosphere and good food!)
Epcot is very difficult. We love LeCellier, but that's become the new Cindy's Castle -- virtually impossible to book for dinner.
I love Biergarten, but German food can turn off some people.
I think Garden Grill is a nice choice. Good, solid food, fun atmosphere. Not sure of your family breakdown, but if you have young ones, they'd really like it.

Prime Time at MGM - Epcot is a little tougher there are several. Teppanyaki is our first choice, LeCellier a second.

Brown Derby is my families favorite MGM restaurant, for food and service. For atmosphere and the PB&J milkshakes, I would have to go with 50's Prime Time Cafe.

Epcot has so many great choices, and it is hard to choose just one. We like LeCellier, Rose & Crown, and Chefs de France. I think you will get the best value on the DDP at LeCellier, and lunch is a good option if you can't get a coveted dinner ADR.

We love 50's PT at MGM too. Always book that one. And, we also love Le Cellier, but we also usually book Chefs de France or Germany. I think the food at Chefs is very good--and a lot easier to get into than Le Cellier. Have fun!

In Epcot I really enjoyed Chefs de France, and Nine Dragons. However if I had to pick one, I'd go with Chefs de France.

Love 50's PTC at MGM, the food is great and the shenanigans are a lot of fun. At Epcot, I love the Biergarten(beer is extra), Rose and Crown, and like Le Cellier.

MGM: We book the Fantasmic Dinner package at Hollywood & Vine - and yes, it is available on the DDP. It's buffet style with a nice 'home-cooked' variety. Nice choices for younger ones including an ice cream buffet bar for dessert. EPCOT: We ALWAYS eat at Biergarten - sometimes twice in one trip. We're of German background and the food is wonderful - of course you have got to love sausages, sauerkraut and unusual cold salads. The cheesecake is 'to die for' nice and light and goes down quite easily after a hearty meal. The apple struedel - well, let's just say even on a way-to-full stomach, we never leave without having had multiple pieces. A bonus are the very entertaining leder hosen clad Bavarian musicians. This is not a quiet, romantic spot. If that's what you're looking for, then Le Cellier is where I would go. This is another of my families favorites, we have always eaten there. It can be difficult getting in, though, so be sure to book ADR's way in advance. We have seen people turned away asking for walk-up. Enjoy your trip!

We've had the Fantasmic Dinner Package at the Hollywood & Vine each year. In case you weren't aware, booking this (no additional cost) at any MGM table service restaurant (Brown Derby, Mama Melrose's or H&V) give you a coupon to get into Fantasmic that same night without waiting the two hours in line.

We have really enjoyed the buffet at H&V. The shrimp is cold and firm and the cocktail sauce is just perfectly spicy. The sauteed salmon was delectible. The cut beef, prime rib, chicken and other entrees were all great. Our DD loved the pizza, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, etc. You can't go wrong when you make your own ice cream desserts with toppings!

Service (bringing drinks and clearing plates) was always first rate and the wait staff is always fun.

We really like walking over to the Prime Time Cafe (they're connected) and sitting down in the "living room" and at the bar. I grew up in a 1950's styled home so it reminds me of old times. We even had the same brass/wood ducks on the wall!

MGM - we like Sci-Fi for lunch (not dinner). The burgers and milkshakes are good plus it's just fun. We don't usually do dinner here unless we spurlge and do Brown Derby but it's 2TS.

Epcot - We like Rose and Crown, Chef de France (awesome onion soup), Le Cellier is good if you can get an ADR, the mexican restaurant, Really Epcot is our favorite park to eat in and we've never been disappointed in any of our meals there.

You are right about too many choices at epcot. Our number one is LeCellier in Canada, the atmosphere and steaks are great. If you are going before aug 31 though, you might want to think about alfredos in Italy. This is the restaurant that invented fettucini alfredo (hence the name) and is really good but will be closing for good in aug. Chefs of France is next and our kids do really like Coral Reef.

As far as MGM goes, Brown Derby is good, but is 2 TS credits and not worth that if you ask me. I would say 50's prime time is next best unless you want the fantasmic package , then hollywood and vine.

We love Le Cellier and it's a bang for your buck if you have the DDP. Our bill in April was $190, and it only took 1 ticket. Mexico and Italy are good also, but I heard they're redoing the Italian restaurant. Our favorite at MGM is the 50's Prime Time-great atmosphere and food.

We are planning to go to Boma also. Is paying OOP for Boma one night and using 4ts for Brown Derby a better value than paying OOP for brown derby? We would have 2 ts for Boma and an extra 2ts for a breakfast if we paid for Brown derby. even if we did fantasmic at 43.99 plus tax tip , I don't think the bill would be under 100.00.

Well, I will admit to using 2TS to eat at the Brown Derby during my trip a couple of months ago. I know some would think that wasn't a good use of credits, but I guess I tend to look at the whole picture when I am deciding if the DDP is a value for me, rather than crunching out every single meal to make sure I am maximizing the plan. I came out ahead of the game, over the course of my entire trip, than had I paid for all of my meals OOP. So, I really don't care that I would have gotten a better deal if I had gone to CG or Jiko, instead of the BD.

I would just suggest looking at the whole picture, and your total cost of meals (the DDP + any OOP meals) and then decide if using 2 TS credits for the BD is worth it to you.

I have never actually eaten in MGM so I cannot say.....
Epcot however I love the Italian and Chinese restaurants!! The Orange chicken is amazing. It is SO much better then anywhere else.

I think the only time I would ever use 2 TS credits for a fine dining experience would be if I knew I was going to have some left over after my trip. It's just not a good use of your dining plan TS credits.
