Here are some of mine :

"Leave the shadows dancing, dancing on their own...
Let the moment free you now,
Leave it all behind you, let the world go on... "

from Take Me As I Am , October Project

**********

"I linger in the doorway
Of alarm clock, screaming monsters coming my way...
Let me stay
Where the wind will whisper to me...
Where the raindrops as their falling tell a story...
In my field of paper flowers...
And candy clouds of lullaby
I lie inside myself for hours
and watch my purple sky fly over me... "

from Imaginary, Evanescence

***********

"From nowhere came the age of the cathedrals
The old world began
A new unknown thousand years
From man just has to climb up where the stars are
And live beyond life
Live in Glass and live in Stone"

from Age of the Cathedrals, Notre Dame de Paris

**********

"And the price of a memory is the memory of the sorrow it brings
And there is always one last light to turn out and one last bell to ring
And the last one out of the circus has to lock up everything
Or the elephants will get out and forget to remember what you said
Oh and the ghosts of the tilt-o-whirl will linger inside of your head
Oh and the ferris wheel junkies will spin there forever instead..."

from Mrs. Potter's Lullaby, Counting Crows

***********

I'm sure I have more, but these are four that I always think of...

So what are your favorite lyrics?

"I'm just a little black rain cloud hovering under the honey tree."
"I'm just a little black rain cloud pay no attention to me."

from Winnie the Pooh movie

***********************************************

ok so I'm obsessed. nothing wrong with that.

"In every heart there is a room
A sanctuary safe and strong
To heal the wounds from lovers past
Until a new one comes along

I spoke to you in cautious tones
You answered me with no pretense
And still I feel I said too much
My silence is my self defense

And every time I've held a rose
It seems I only felt the thorns
And so it goes, and so it goes
And so will you soon I suppose"
-Billy Joel. I love this one just because I can relate to it so easily. Well, I can relate to many of Billy's songs, I adore him.

"Celebrate we will
Because life is short but sweet for certain'"
-Dave Matthews Band

"There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed,
Some forever, not for better,
Some have gone and some remain.
All these places had their moments,
With lovers and friends I still can recall,
Some are dead and some are living,
In my life I’ve loved them all.
But of all these friends and lovers,
There is no one compares with you,
And these mem’ries lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new.
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before,
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more"
-The Beatles.

I could go on and on and on, I'm a song lyrics junkie.

Aww...Evil Princess...In My Life is Dh's and my song. Thanks for reminding me. I need to go home and give him a big hug tonight.

Too many to mention, but here are a few of my favorites:

"Ain't there something I can give you
In exchange for everything you give to me
Read my mind and make me feel just fine
When I think my peace of mind is out
of reach

The scales are sometimes unbalanced
And you bear the weight of all that has to be
I hope you see that you can lean on me
And together we can calm a stormy sea

We love so strong and so unselfishly
And I tell you now that I made a vow
I'm giving you the best that I got, baby
Yes I tell you now, that I made a vow
I'm giving you the best that I got, honey."

"Giving You The Best That I Got" - Anita Baker

So be it, I’m your crowbar
If that’s what I am so far
Until you get out of this mess
And I will pretend
That I don’t know of your sins
Until you are ready to confess
But all the time, all the time
I’ll know, I’ll know

And you can use my skin
To bury secrets in
And I will settle you down
And at my own suggestion,
I will ask no questions
While I do my thing in the background
But all the time, all the time
I’ll know, I’ll know

Baby-I can’t help you out, while she’s still around

So for the time being, I’m being patient
And amidst this bitterness
If you’ll just consider this-even if it don’t make sense
All the time-give it time
And when the crowd becomes your burden
And you’ve early closed your curtains,
I’ll wait by the backstage door
While you try to find the lines to speak your mind
And pry it open, hoping for an encore
And if it gets too late, for me to wait
For you to find you love me, and tell me so
It’s ok, don’t need to say it.

"I Know" - Fiona Apple

Who knows where the road will lead us
Only a fool would say
But if you let me love you
Its for sure I'm gonna love you
All the way

"All The Way" - Frank Sinatra

I almost wasn't going to post because there are just too many for me.

But I recently became very attached to the lyrics in "100 Years" by Five for Fighting. In fact, I just heard it and tears came to my eyes. The lyrics in that song hit you like a brick.

Next time it's on, really listen to it. I guarantee they will move you.

They are gorgeous lyrics...

Here : (for those who have not heard it)

100 Years by Five for Fighting

I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

I'm 22 for a moment
She feels better than ever
And we're on fire
Making our way back from Mars

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to lose
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

I'm 33 for a moment
Still the man, but you see I'm a they
A kid on the way
A family on my mind

I'm 45 for a moment
The sea is high
And I'm heading into a crisis
Chasing the years of my life

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy, Time to lose yourself
Within a morning star

15 I'm all right with you
15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

Half time goes by
Suddenly you're wise
Another blink of an eye
67 is gone
The sun is getting high
We're moving on...

I'm 99 for a moment
Dying for just another moment
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are

15 there's still time for you
22 I feel her too
33 you're on your way
Every day's a new day...

15 there's still time for you
Time to buy and time to choose
Hey 15, there's never a wish better than this
When you only got 100 years to live

I know what you mean!! Love that song and it is so true.

Silly song, but one line has stuck with me for years:

"Sometimes the rainbow
Is better than the pot of gold"

Cry Tough - by Poison circa 1985

my favorite song lyrics are from the rap group D12:

"Don't hate the game or the player, the one who's changing is you"

Land Of Hopes and Dreams (by Bruce Springsteen)

Grab your ticket and your suitcase
Thunder's rollin' down this track
You don't know where you're goin'
But you know you won't be back
Darlin' if you're weary
Lay your head upon my chest
We'll take what we can carry
And we'll leave the rest

Big Wheels rolling through fields
Where sunlight streams
Meet me in a land of hope and dreams

I will provide for you
And I'll stand by your side
You'll need a good companion for
This part of the ride
Leave behind your sorrows
Let this day be the last
Tomorrow there'll be sunshine
And all this darkness past

Big wheels roll through fields
Where sunlight streams
Meet me in a land of hope and dreams

This Train...
Carries saints and sinners
This Train...
Carries losers and winners
This Train...
Carries *****s and gamblers
This Train...
Carries lost souls
This Train...
Dreams will not be thwarted
This Train...
Faith will be rewarded
This Train...
Hear the steel wheels singin'
This Train...
Bells of freedom ringin'

This Train...
Carries broken-hearted
This Train...
Thieves and sweet souls departed
This Train...
Carries fools and kings
This Train...
All aboard

This Train...
Dreams will not be thwarted
This Train...
Faith will be rewarded
This Train...
Hear the steel wheels singin'
This Train...
Bells of freedom ringin'

"Why does life go by so fast when days just creep along?"
Bend the Light by Fighting Gravity

One day you're gonna have to face

The deep, dark, truthful mirror

And it's gonna tell you things that I still

love you too much to say

- Elvis Costello

Sorry, thought of another!

The Dance by Garth Brooks

"I'm glad that I didn't know,
The way it all would end, the way it all would go.
Our lives are better left to chance
I would have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance."

One of the few songs that can make me cry...:sad1:

ANYTHING by Jackson Browne

Fountain of Sorrow

Looking through some photographs,
I found inside your drawer.
I was taken by a photograph of you.
There were one or two I know that you
would have liked a little more,
But they didn't show your spirit quite as true..

You were turning 'round to see who was behind you.
And I took your childish laughter by surprise.
And at the moment that my camera happened to find you.
There was just a trace of sorrow in your eyes.....

_____

Looking Into You

Well, I looked into a house I once lived in.
Around the time I first went on my own.
When the roads were as many as the places
I had dreamed of.
And my friends and I were one.

All the walls and the windows were still standing.
And the music could be heard at the door.
Where the people who kindly endured my odd questions.
Asked if I'd came very far.
And when my silence replied,
They took me inside,
Where their children sat playing on the floor.

Well, we spoke of the changes that would find us farther on,
And they left me so warm and so high.
But as stepped back outside into the early morning sun,
I heard that highway whisper inside, "Are you ready to fly?"

And I look into the faces all passing by.
It's an ocean that will never be filled.
But the walls that grow older and finally crumble,
That even love could not rebuild.

It's a hotel at best,
You're here as a guest.
You ought to make yourself at home,
While you're waiting for the rest.

But as I look into the dreams of the millions,
that one day the search will be through.
Here I stand at the edge of my unraveled illusions,
Looking into you....And that's true

Looking Through Your Eyes

Every one I've ever known, has wished me well.
That's the way it always seems, it's hard to tell.
Seems like people only ask you how you're doin'
Cause it's easier than letting on how little they could care...
But when you know you've found a real friend somewhere.
Suddenly all the others are so much easier to bear....

I know this is really corny, but his music SPEAKS to me....sigh:goodvibes

" ...She can dance a Cajun rythm
Jump like a Willys in four wheel drive
She's a summer love in the sping, fall and winter
She can make happy any man alive ..."

"... What else can we do now
Except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair
Well the night's bustin' open these two lanes will take us anywhere ..."

"... Sometimes I lay awake and wonder
Where the years have gone
They have all passed under
Sleep's dark and silent gate :( :( :(

...Gypsy Lady
Doin' miracle work for me
She sets my soul free like a ship sailing on the sea ..."

You made a first class fool out of me
But I'm as blind as a fool can be ..."

But today, this song won't stop playing in my head. :confused3

All right you Chipmunks! Ready to sing your song?
-I'll say we are!
-Yeah!
-Let's sing it now!
Okay, Simon?
-Okay!
Okay, Theodore?
-Okay!
Okay, Alvin? Alvin? ALVIN!
-OKAY!!!

Christmas, Christmas time is near
Time for toys and time for cheer
We've been good, but we can't last
Hurry Christmas, hurry fast
Want a plane that loops the loop
Me, I want a hula hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.

Okay fellas get ready.
That was very good, Simon.
-Naturally.
Very good Theodore.
-Ahhh.
Ah, Alvin, you were a little flat, watch it.
Ah, Alvin. Alvin. ALVIN!
-OKAY.

Want a plane that loops the loop
I still want a hula hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.

Very good, boys
-Lets sing it again! Yeah, lets sing it again!
No, That's enough, lets not overdo it
-What do you mean overdo it?
-We want to sing it again!
Now wait a minute, boys
-Why can't we sing it again?
Alvin, cut that out..Theodore, just a minute.
Simon will you cut that out? Boys...)
