What are your Breakfast In-Hotel-Room Ideas

DH doesn't eat breakfast, just drinks coffee, so he is easy!

On WDW trips, I love Mickey waffles too much to pack my own breakfast. On other trips, we usually stay somewhere with a kitchenette, so I bring oatmeal packets along with some trail mix and honey packets.

oranges, bananas, yogurt, cold cereal are the usual.
I bring stuff for protein shakes for myself.

We get a Garden Grocer order every trip with yogurt, fruit, cheese, whole wheat bread and lunchmeat to use for breakfasts. Like others, we need protein in the morning, and our breakfasts are also usually light...yogurt and whole fruit, or an apple and a few cheese sticks, or a slice of whole wheat with meat and cheese. We bring fruit and trail mix to snack on if we get hungry before lunch, but most often, we're satisfied until well after noon.

We get the quaker instant oatmeal packs. They are usually $1-$2 depending where you get them and are filling. Just need some hot water.

We fly, things I bring:
fresh fruit
Cheerios
granola bars
cheese sticks
applesauce
squeeze yogurt

If I can get groceries:
hard boiled eggs
yogurt

We try to eat about half our breakfasts in the room.
I stick to 'healthy' stuff. (I need my protein in the morning.) We will supplement it with a cinnamon roll or something 'bad' at the parks

We aren't big on breakfast, so I usually bring a box of granola bars or something similar that we can throw in our park bag and eat later in the morning when we get hungry.

My family is loves energy balls so im making a batch to bring. My recipe has oatmeal, flax seed, peanut butter, honey and chocolate chips but there are lots of variations available. We freeze ours because we think they taste better that way. It's a great grab and go breakfast.

Your recipe sounds delicious! Could you please share the recipe?

Hello Budget Friends!

We have a trip coming up in May and I would love to know what you bring for breakfast to save money and eat in your room before departing out for the day.

We will be driving so we will be able to bring and pick things up no problem.

All that will be in our room is a fridge. Thanks!

We've done danishes, donuts, cereal bars, whole fruit. Peanut butter and crackers for protein; also cheese and beef jerky or sausage; nuts are a favorite too. Brought our Keurig and made instant oatmeal and decent coffee (brought powdered flavored creamer too).

We've found, though, that what works best for us is to have a light snack in the morning, then eat a late breakfast (after 10); usually at a buffet. Then we just have a light snack in the mid afternoon, and eat dinner about 4:30-5pm. A late snack and we're good.

I think I have just about brought everything you can think of, the biggest hits with my family go like this. While this isn't everything just the highlights.

Homemade muffins and lemon pound cake - I have to make these " Trashcan Cookies" is what my family calls them I use a oatmeal cookie recipe as the base and just throw whatever I have in them, they are super filling and not to unhealthy..:D
Pop Tarts, breakfast bars, mini bagels with cream cheese
Grapes, and or Cuties ( little oranges)
1 large box of cereal
Milk and juice/ juice boxes this is a huge money saver with little kids ask for a glass of ice and squeezing the juice in and cold juice ready to go.
Case of water
Soda, Gatorade
Small Individual bags of crackers, peanuts, trail mix, chips, pretzels,
Cheese stick or baby bells, baby carrots, and those packages of celery pre-cut and a small bottle of ranch for dipping or use the cream cheese too.
Deli meat and sliced cheese to roll-up and snack on ( in room and pool side)
Adult beverages - I bought a plastic container with one of those freezer sticks it will hold a whole bottle of wine, pool side drinks.

Don't forget paper plates, and bowls, some kind of plastic forks and spoons, napkins, paper towels, baggies quart and gallon

Since your driving invest in a rolling cooler :thumbsup2 for the room it so much easier than those tiny frig's that I don't really trust or never really get cold. Also a small cooler to take to the pool, we use a soft sided collapsible cooler works great. We have used it for the ride home for wet swim suits one time...

My favorite "to go" breakfast consist of baguettes/croissants, apples, cheese, and other fruits/nuts type items.

FRUITS! The price is insane at the resort and you are lucky to find anything. We drive or I would go to walmart, even at goodings. Nice to have bananas, berries, melons,...

This is the one I use. Sounds like it might be the same one. :)

Yes. It is basically this with no coconut and it calls for crunchy peanut butter. Im normally a smooth JIF girl but for these I've been buying fresh ground peanut butter. It's thicker than the smooth JIF so it molds easier and it has no sugar which is good because they already have honey and chocolate chips in the recipe.

I really like the peanut butter idea , and I'm going to try it. You're correct, there's already enough sugar with the honey and chocolate chips. :)

I always bring small silicone camping bowls, and get plastic spoons at a qs place- bring some dry cereal (my DH loves granola) and buy a 1/2 gal milk- that's breakfast. Either that or some oatmeal packets (they have healthy ones) and hot water from coffeemaker.... plus I like a cup of hot tea while getting ready for my day.... simple stuff I like the energy balls idea those sound good

I totally agree with your logic. I would enjoy a gigantic Mickey rice krispie treat for breakfast. :lovestruc

In that same vein, a Mickey ice cream bar has milk in it . . . in case I'm thirsty . . . :thumbsup2

But to respond to the OP - I made breakfast cookies for our last trip and while they were portable and kept us from starving until lunch time, they weren't GREAT so I won't do that again. In the past we have brought a variety of cereal bars, oatmeal squares, etc. and we eat while walking/waiting for the bus. I bring a coffee maker & disposable cups & coffee.

I don't see a problem with ice cream for breakfast. There is no wrong time for ice cream.

Of course, around here we eat whatever we're hungry for, so breakfast might be cereal or eggs, but could just as likely be pizza, spaghetti, or grilled cheese. We've never subscribed to the idea that you can only eat certain foods for certain meals.

Some time ago while sitting in the pediatric dentist waiting room I remember reading about a woman who lost a lot of weight eating in reverse. She ate her big meal at breakfast. Things you normally think of as dinner stuff like chicken, etc. her last meal of the day was smaller like a lot of people would eat for breakfast. .

We're trying a new approach this year that so far is working well. I ordered a case of ready vega protein shakes (in individual ready to drink packs) and drink it on the way to the bus. Done. Also only 170 calories which works out great with all the Disney treats and dining (we're on DDP). Ordered off Amazon along with water and guest services actually delivered it to our hotel room!

I always pack peanut butter, coffee, shelf stable almond milk, Truvia and homemade (low sugar/fat) granola. If I drive I also bring bread, plain yogurt and fruit. If I fly I order the bread and perishables from Garden Grocer.

When the kids were little we would buy those little individual cereal packs. They almost never had boxed cereals at home so this was a treat.

Peanut butter sandwich/banana/coffee
Yogurt/granola/berries/coffee
Apple slices/peanut butter/coffee
